Updated to News Ver 1.44 TOP PAGE no longer displays

Not sure why this happens but I updated module NEWS to ver 1.44 and all seemed fine. But when I make visible under BLOCKS TOp Viewed or Recent News and a few other on the TOP PAGE of my site then go to that page my site page stays blank. If I go and make those blocks inviible then the TOP PAGE loads fine. My start page has always been set to NONE

However, if I move it to another page only it appears to work! So only appears to effect it when displayed on the TOP PAGE

Is that a required step, or are the two version to imcompatable? Or is that just one step leading to the next upgrade step! I just want to try to get as current as possible, without to much alteration on my current website.

Where can I find or exactly what are the CORRECT steps to updrade my version 2.0.10 to the latest 2.2.3final release.
Step by step would be helpful! I just want to do it RIGHT!

Just for fun I renamed the adminmenu.php to adminmenu1.php then went to my site. It did like you said and asked if it was the first time to the administrative area. I said YES and it appears to have fixed it.

So, again what is the correct setting for the cache directory and I guess I should email the server administrators to inquire?

Where exactly would that file be, In the cache directory I do not see that file at all. I see adminmenu.php but it shows empty. Or am I looking at the wrong directly? Also what should the file directory access settings be. I assume you mean the CMOD settings?

Control Panel Icons GONE!

I log in as administrator on my site, then click on administration which takes me to the control panel admin.php however now all of a sudden all of my modules icons do not show up. They are all running okay, I just no longer have their icons to click on in the control panel. Any idea what caused this, it has been fine for months, and I changed nothing new...any advice would be appreciated.

Where is the news 1.3 module?? I must be overlooking it, I use news 1.1 part of XOOPS basic core modules. But can not change the name of those who submit a article but would like to do that if possible.
