JAVesey he/she wasn't an anonymous user. I have done what you suggest. Thank you very much.

terrion i call it Dos attack because that's how protector describes it when i went to see if i have attacks. I agree with you that is more Spam attack.

irmtfan is 3.04 the latest version?

PS: I inform my Hosting Company about what have happen.

Ok I just have my first DOS attack.

First off all I would like to say that new users at my site not approve automatically.
So a new user with the
Username: newuz00560
e-mail: newuz00560@averecura.org
IP: 89.111.180.225

Send an apply to sign in to my site. I activate his apply.

Today I saw him online and because I knew he was a new user I went and saw how many comments have to my site. He had 55 comments. The number was very big for someone so fresh!
So I went to see his replies and I discover it was spam messages to the News module.

He was sending one comment after another. I delete him and I put his IP to the Ban ips at protector.

1) I would like you to suggest me ways to find if he has left any trace so to find him and present charge against him to Greek authorities.

2) How to see if he has made any other trouble to my site, if he has left virus something like that.

3) what to do to avoid a same attack at the future.

PS: He only achieves to post comments to News module 1.56. Can I do any modifications to it to be more reliable?

how to take off the version text of xoop stats module.

Hello. This is not an major issue but i want to do that more for appearance reasons.

At the end of the information you see when you use this module it provides the version of the XOOPS you use. Can i hide this?

i use XOOP-Stats v0.45.

Ok as i saw to protector the allow_url_fopen was =1.

I create a php.ini file and add the line allow_url_fopen = 0
i put it at public_html and the problem solved!!!

But...
now if you go to my site/php.ini it saws the index of php.ini file means allow_url_fopen = 0

Is this a security problem?
can i add somewhere else the allow_url_fopen = 0 not to be seen at anyone who types my url+php.ini?

Xoop-stats module problem

Good morning. I notice something and i would like to share it with you.

In section "Active sessions" of my statistics at my web page i have a big number. Approximately 900 for example.
I want to see if something is wrong and how can i check it.

Actually i don't know what exactly "Active sessions" is about but i am sure its not 900 for my site!!

This is the link and the version is Xoops-stats 0.45

PS:
I have translate it for my language (Active sessions = Ενεργά Sessions)

I manage to do the first question before your last post.

The problems remains the second one.
The thing is that i want people to be able to read everything in forum but download avainable only for register users.

What about the doc module u said before? where can i find it? is it a XOOPS module combatible with XOOPS 2.0.16?

Hello script_fu how are you?

I use cbb 3.05 and not cbb 3.08 and i don't know what you mean about The permission template system should handle the download part but do not hold me to that.

do you mean that i have to use a separate module to disable anonymous to download from the posts of forum messages?
Doesn't do that newbb itself??

I want to make two changes to my forum.
First: to allow word files (now I can only add jpg and something else I think) to be add as an attachment to topics for webmaster and registered users and

Second to allow the download of the attachments only to webmasters and registered users.
If u see my forum now you can download the file while you are an anonymous.
I don’t want that.
