If i can be of any help (debugging, design etc...) please let me know... I'm willing to do anything cause my site is live and our users are desperate waiting for the downloads section...

If you also need any more suggestions, i'm willing to help

Regards,
Kostas

Server booking? Who needs such a module. Leave ot aside and take care of the downloads more first (which is a core module and is more critical)

Hmm... i think you need some time management here...

I really don't think my friend it should be much of a trouble for an experienced XOOPS developer (like you maybe) to try a little and polish out that abandoned module, to make it work at least. I believe this will give one more push to XOOPS on it's way to the top. A lot of people need this functionality and it's there. It only waits for someone to fix it...

Have you looked at CLICK TO 4IMAGES. You might find a way to do a workaround and it's a very competent software.

You are completely off-topic here my friend... What does an image gallery like 4images had to do with a descent downloads module for XOOPS that everyone needs? This is completely different stuff we are talking about...

Concerning the uploader module you are mentioning - it's crap, believe me... Not XOOPS integrated, not XOOPS friendly and definetly not XOOPS usable. It's one more module that messes up novice XOOPS users.

Finally, the MyDownloadsRC module that i entioned earlier, is NOT a XOOPS 1.x module because it supports Smarty templates. It should work in XOOPS 2 but it doesn't

Can anyone give some REAL help?

You can install module uploader and use for your users to upload their files, then you scan them and post them on the downloads section.

Hello... we are talking about integration here... Sure, i can use any php-upload script out there to handle the uploads, but that is not the case. A new download submition should be by registered members, with the description, some picture and any other relevant data. Admins should only check the file for validity and then use the data to approve the submition.

All these need a working downloads module that can also handle user uploads. The only module i found out there is MyDownloadsRC (hidden athttp://www.soundsstudio.co.uk/downloads/) but it's not working as expected. Users may upload files and also upload screenshots. Admins may approve or reject and also give permissions per download or per category. Sounds good, but the bad thing is that users are not able to see any download at all... Only admins have access to download files. If someone can help and fix that old downloads module, maybe then we can have exactly what we want. And i think that alla of us want that functionality. We don't pay so much money each month for a dedicated server, just to host downloads on different places...

I search everywhere but it seems that there is no working module that can extend or replace the current download module. I think that in a community portal like xoops, the ability for users to be able to upload files is a must, by at the moment no such functionality exist, not even as a hack.

I tried some older versions (MyDownloadsRC etc... - ALL OF THEM) but they fail to work properly...

If someone is able to extend the downloads module to support user uploads (and maybe permissions like WMDownloads) please let me know...

Don't expect anyone in here to reply to your RSS encoding questions... I had the same problem (for Greek) and found no answer yet. So i found my own solution... Use lycos syndication module where everything works like a charm... You even get javascript support as a bonus... Cheers mate...

I have succesfully applied htmlarea as a replacement to the original bbcode editor for our XOOPS Community. You can check it HERE

It works like a charm and i don't think there are any security issues because all special tags are removed on pasting and there is noaccess for the user to directly type html. What do you think?
