Re: Article 1.00 Font problem

Would this have anything to do with the following in the 2.3.3 guide in the news story

Quote:

Upgrading a non UTF-8 site:

UTF-8 encoding has been introduced into XOOPS 2.3 as default charset. However, there might be some problems with converting existent websites from non UTF-8 charset to UTF-8.
Before there is a good enough solution for this conversion, following settings are recommended when you upgrade an existent website if you are not an experienced user:
- Select "Do not change" option in "Database character set and collation" step during upgrade process
- Modify /languages/yourlanguage/global.php to use existent _CHARSET value
If it has been changed to UTF-8 in your new global.php file to

define('_CHARSET''UTF-8');
change it back to what it was beforee.g.:

define('_CHARSET''ISO-8859-1');

I really don't understand all this charset stuff, but one of my sites DB uses ISO-8859-1, the others use UTF-8, but all my sites are in english so it may not be relevant to your situation Frank, anyway, easy enough to try and see if it makes any difference.

Regardless I have bumped your post lol.

;o)

Re: How to add item title into pagetitle?

Lexikon is an upgrade to wordbook, of course wordbook is a great module, but it is old.

Here is Lexikon how I use it, it upgraded wordbook, have a look. See if the page titles are how you want them. Lexikon on my site used to be wordbook full of terms, but it wasn't doing what I wanted, lexikon fixed some of the problems. Maybe when there is a developer for wordbook I will go back to it but there isn't, which is a shame, Lexikon also does not seem to have a developer, but it does have some enhancements over wordbook.

Oh I should say that when you install Lexikon, it doesn't overwrite wordbook, but it can detect wordbook and there is an import function to get all the entries, once imported see if it has done the job then you can decide if you want to use lexikon or delete it and continue to use wordbook, they are separate modules yet the same.

Anyway it is the last time I will mention it lol ;o)

Re: How to add item title into pagetitle?

There is Lexikon that seems to have more features and from what I can see is basically an Upgrade to wordbook, I updated my old wordbook to lexikon, no problems it supports importing/upgrading from a few different modules of this type. Wordbook is really quite old now.

Oh there is also Lexique, but I haven't used that.

Re: Blank modules

wf-resource module
dummy blank module
Every article or news module

There are lots of different ways you can do things like you want, sometimes you just have to install a module and give it a go. Also multimenu can help with the way you want your menus to look and what's in them.

Re: Modules NOT working with XOOPS 2.3

extcal is at 2.2.2 download

extcal can usually be upgraded from it's admin menu, if it doesn't show that get that latest version, maybe even don't overwrite the files, just delete the version you have and upload the latest one, well, unless you have lots of entries in the calendar of course.

Re: New approach to news: News blog to wiki

Nearly all of PHPPP's modules had the ability to transfer between them, article, CBB, Dokuwiki and wordpress, from looking at the admin areas of these modules, it looked like there was still many more features that weren't finished yet as well.

No other set of modules integrates as well as the modules I mentioned, all worked on by DJ, Frameworks seemed to be the key to this integration. I admit though I rarely transferred content between them, only occasionally.

Anyway, I rarely understand your posts MrGrey, so I am probably way off the mark lol ;o)

Re: how to configure mytab for xoops.org top page look (forum)

Maybe you could clone a block, that may help? I haven't configured my tabs for a while now so don't really remember what I did with mine.

Re: Sitemap new pages

You could use the dummy module, rename it to I don't know, say "special" and place your pages in it's folder, still, the only link that will show up in Sitemap will be "Special" it won't have sub links as such. It will show up in your main menu etc. it acts just like a module as such.

If you look at the "Bookshop" link in this sitemap you will see it's actually just a html page with Amazon Books widgets and code.

Note: I haven't used it with multiple html pages, I have only needed the one index page within dummy, though I don't see why you couldn't add a few html pages that all link to each other from the dummy index page.

That's the only thing I can think of ;o)
