Hi everyone. As far as I know HERKO is one of the developers of spotlight. Where can I request some things about this module ?

Cause I find this module really good but if it had some features more would be even better.

Perhaps if it supported spotlight of the last 5 articles.

Also I have modified spotlight to support xfsection because I am using it. If are you interested I can send it to you (but I think that its an easy job for you to convert it )

Hello I want to find what is the best way to upload images to an article. So here is my situation.

I have articles with many pictures. Until now I have uploaded the pictures with the traditional way, cute ftp in the upload folder with specific path. Then I modified my article offline with the correct path of the images using html. And at last I posted the article (html code of course) in xf-sections (this doesn't matter).

I wanna ask you if there is any easier way to upload pictures without using ftp and paths and html. But of course the images should be organized and not all together.

Thanx.

I am happy that I could help. If you get results please send me a pm and tell me about them. Or start a new thread. Such information and experience is useful for all webmasters.

Or even better wright down an article about your personal experieces and post it to your site. That is realy valuable.

Nice tips. Also I wanted to ask, how many people are involved in mywebresource. If you are alone I would suggest to build a team of at least 3 people (included you). Your site is to big to be maintained only from you.

I have forgotten to tell that if you build a mailing list or send a newsletter with some article would be a reason for your members to come over and over. I send at least one newsletter per month with the latest articles (not full just titles and links) and I see that the members come to see them.

I think your site or portal is realy good resource for webmasters. It doesn't matter if the articles aren't yours.

I give you my tips

+Make a personal style (colours, themes and templates) because right now it is like all the other XOOPS and cms communities.

+You should have a navigation bar and it would be better to have nice big icons on it.

+You must develop a niche and stay with it. I think you already have it but you must to show the others too. Tell the visitors that you can help them with useful information. Quick easy and free.

+Think as a webmaster. What are the main problems of a webmaster. I can tell ya !
- Reliable Good Hosting
- What content management system to choose
- What content and how to write it
- What style should his site have
- Where he finds some visitors
- Which methods are needed to earn some cash

And more ....
Its easy. Anwser these questions by articles you provide and you already provide quality services for you visitors !!!

I am a webmaster too, and I ve got the same problems. I hope the best for your site.

Basically i wrote this somewhere and I ll write it again, it would be a nice feature to select the blocks position by horizontal and vertical order.

For example: L,CL/Top,CL/Bottom,CC/Top,CC/Bottom,CR/Top,CR/Bottom,R

A nice feature would be to select in the administration where do you want to put each block.

Above or below the contents.

Because you are talking about core hacks. Is there any script that is checking which files are hacked. This would be useful for example when we upgrade XOOPS and not remember what hacks we apply.

EDIT:

Ok excuse me for interrupting this thread. The mods can delete this post.

Btw I found the answer

MMM... yes probably it could help me when the server was mine.

But in my case it can't help me very much.

I think i'll upgrade and then see what happens.

Hello I am using XOOPS 2.0.6 RC pretty old I know.

I am confused. I am sending using phpmail() emails to the members and they are getting them. Also the contact us form is sending also mails.

But when I am using lostpassword or notification for new members I am not getting any mail??

Is this a problem caused by the host or by me? Please help. I ve searched threads but they are talking about not sending mail overall. In my case I can send mail only through the administration "Mail users"
