Re: How to make Bloc in Start Page

New users should always checkout the following:
1. Documentation - linked on the left. Specifically the administration manual
2. The FAQ section - linked on the left - specifically the sections on gloassry, beginners first steps, modules, blocks and themes. There are links to visual tutorials here.
3. The search function on the top right.
Please check also the read B4U post link below if you have problems.

First you will need the news module, then set it up with the right permissions and turn on the blocks in blocks admin and set the news module as your start page.

I think an alternative is to use the spotlight module.

There are a number of reasons for your file not found and for modules not working. Using search will help you come up with some solutions independently, and i also advise becoming quite familiar with the FAQ page.

Re: Setting homepage URL with content module installed

You can have static content appear on the homepage by using a 'custom block'. You create these through admin - blocks - make custom block. Give it a name, set permissions, make it visible to all and set it to the start page and weight it to sit where you wish. because XOOPS is 'object oriented' it is all about 'objects' which are installed modules and selecting and positioning blocks from those modules where you wish. The reason there is no specific content module in the core is that fact that there are so many to choose from.

I am not sure how you would get a url to not demonstrate which module was in use - with a bit of hunt and peck on the topic of simple URL's you may find an answer. if I type in www.axoopswebsite.com the page always renders with something - mine renders with /module/news. Xoops.org renders with /?

(now I find that interesting) - but I don't beleive I have seen one render without a /something.

Re: How to create a module for xoops

Please try a search on write module - I am certain there is an FAQ and some other posts about this that will help unitl the people who know exactly where will come along.

Re: How do I make my forum to look like xoops?

Try switching to the default XOOPS theme and see what happens - could be the theme doing things. The other thing is to create some posts - nothing will show up without some posts -(0 post meassage) write a welcome post for each forum and category and make it sticky - then see what it looks like. Oh - and check your forum permissions - make sure the correct users have been given permissions.

Re: Documentation site now open

Ho just to let you know what you see today is only the official docs - Some weeks ago this site went down - the one we have now is temporary - the whole site, workspace included will hopefully be back soon.
