Re: Formulize --- Read-only controls?

Hello,

Interesting issue. In 2.3 of Formulize, I think you're right, you could not have an element editable to only one group but visible to more than one. Visible and editable is the same thing in Formulize 2.3.

However, if you go tohttp://www.freeformsolutions.ca/formulize and click the link to get the files from the FSOSS workshop, and download the XOOPS files from there, the modules folder will contain a more up to date copy of Formulize. You can follow the instructions from the 2.3 readme as far as installation and upgrades go.

In the newer version, there is an option to make a form element disabled for certain groups. That should suit your needs.

Good luck,

You can reference smarty variables inside the PHP code inside a template, but they are embedded inside a long array. I don't remember the exact syntax or name of the array, but the easiest way to figure out how to refer to them is to look at any of the compiled templates in your templates_c folder. Open one of those up and look for a reference to a smarty variable and you will see what the "internal" PHP name of the variable is. You can use that in the PHP code inside your templates.

Good luck,

Re: Module admin error with 'iMenu' in modules folder

Not all text editors are created equal. Notepad in particular is terrible at interpreting line breaks that use a syntax different from Windows' default.

So just because it looks wrong doesn't mean it is wrong.

The only thing that matters is whether your server reads the files the right way or not. In some isolated cases, a server will not read the files as expected.

I would look for a server based solution, change some setting related to how it reads linkbreaks, rather than altering the files. Altering the files is treating the symptom, not the problem. The problem is with your server.

Unfortunately, I do not know anything about server configuration options that may be relevant here. Sorry.

Re: Catalog module search - Any available?

Yeah, if there's a module out there that does a hierarchical listing for you already, then that would be a great starting place.

Re: Catalog module search - Any available?

I think you misinterpret what Formulize is for and can do.

You would start by making the forms, to act as the CMS part of your system. You would have a form that would record events, and there would be questions in the form that let you specify the Genre, day of week, etc.

Then you would make a page or pages that lists the information that has been submitted in the form in the way you want it displayed.

Formulize can be used as a rapid application development toolset for making simple module-like things when no module exists to fill that need. To do something as customized as what you're after here, you need some basic familiarity with relatively simple PHP, ie:

// get the data entered into your form (form number 1 in this example)
$data getData(1);

foreach(
$data as $entry) {

// do something here to display each entry, ie:

print "<h1>" display($entry12) . "<h1>"// 12 would be the id number of the title element in the form
}

If that makes any sense to you at all, Formulize might be a good choice. If that makes no sense at all, maybe not.

That level of complexity is only necessary for such a custom presentation. Formulize can handle simpler scenarios "out-of-the-box", especially more form-like ones such as registration forms, activity logs, surveys, etc.

Re: Module admin error with 'iMenu' in modules folder

Hello,

Replace the original modinfo.php file. Just deleting a file pretty much never solves your problem.

This would appear to be a problem with how your system is interpreting the line breaks in the file. If possible, open up the file on the server using the command line, and edit it and make sure there are two line breaks between each line (press Enter twice after each line). Then save it.

Do that for modinfo.php and xoops_version.php.

If you can't do that on the command line, then do it locally and upload the modified files.

More information is in this thread...

http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/forum/forum.php?thread_id=2115&forum_id=745

I thought that problem had been taken care of, but obviously not (unless you're using an old version of iMenu).

Re: Catalog module search - Any available?

Thanks for the plug JMorris. Yes, this sounds essentially like something that could be a custom module, but which is really, maybe, a simple CMS kind of problem. You can a form, maybe a category form, or an item form and each item is attached to a category (maybe through a dropdown list or checkboxes in the form).

And then you want to display all the items in some kind of customized way, and if you edit entries in the form, the display of the items changes. So simple CMS-ish kind of stuff.

Formulize does give you the tools to make that kind of thing yourself. When dev.xoops.org springs back to life, feel free to post over there with more details and maybe we can help.

Unfortunately, you're wrong.

It would be a nice feature to add in (or add back in...it was in Formulaire, but I think was buggy a few years ago when we started and we didn't have a need for it and basically turned it off...and then integrated with WF-Downloads to make custom forms per category in WF-Downloads) so there's little perceived need for file upload elements in Formulize. But I do think it would be a very handy feature to have.

In the meantime, I'm sure Formulaire does this.
