Dear all,

Thank you very much for all your suggestions.

I will try to use News and see if any incompatibility. Is there a module called "Pages" or "Page" that handles static page?

I once used UserPage but there were some conflicts with "Simplified URL" hack. Blank pages always happened. Since I did need URL Rewrite for SEO purpose for my client, I uninstalled it and found "SmartSection". It is a wonderful module but needs an update to make it more compatible with XOOPS 2.3.x.

Thank you very much for all your help!

I would to like choose a module other than SmartSection to show my static pages. The one should be compatible with XOOPS 2.3.x and have tag function (if not, maybe fully compatible with using XOOPS Tag). I have heard that SmartSection is only compatible with XOOPS 2.0.x, not XOOPS 2.3.x, although I only found the problem with XOOPS Tag in SmartSection.

In view of the coming XOOPS 3.0, please give me some advice on any alternative to SmartSection.

Thank you very much for your help!!

Hi, ivistar!

After you have upload SmartSection 2.14 to your XOOPS/modules/, did you see the module "available for installation" at the lower part of the "Modules" pages of the XOOPS system? If not, then your uploaded files may not be complete or may be corrupted. Try to upload again.

The second case is that you saw the SmartSection available for your installation and you did install it. However, it is not shown on the upper part of the "Modules" page.

Which case is your case?

Did you download it from here

http://smartfactory.ca/modules/wfdownloads/singlefile.php?cid=2&lid=123

SmartSection 2.14 Final? If not, you may download it again and install once again.

You may check if you have uploaded your files inside the folder "smartsection" to your XOOPS/modules folder. Any file(s) missed?

What is the link that you downloaded your template set?

You may first decompress the zip to a folder and use a compressor software (e.g. 7-zip) to compress all the files inside the folder into a tar.gz file. Then upload that tar.gz file in the "Template Set Manager" (The part marked with

"Choose a template set package to upload
Must be a tar.gz/.tar file with a valid XOOPS template set structure.")

Make sure that it contains XOOPS template set structure and your "uploads" folder inside XOOPS installation path is "writeable".

For a trial, you may press "Download' in the column "Action" of the row "default XOOPS Default Template Set" of the Template Set Manager of XOOPS. It will prompt you for the location for save the "default.tar.gz". Then you upload that "default.tar.gz" and name "the new template set name" as "TEST". A new set of template called "TEST" will then be created and shown. The template files of "TEST" is the same as "default".

Unfortunately all this information is NOT written on the "readme.txt" included in the module, but only in the "RELEASE NOTE" of the new module. Maybe you thought this should also be written in it (I thought too), but, in fact, it is not the case.

Some XOOPS modules even have NO readme.txt or installation guideline for newbie. Starting a new website using XOOPS is not difficult. However, dealing with the problems occurred after installation of new modules (if it can be installed successfully) is PAINFUL to any XOOPS newbie.

Hope all module developers can make their masterpieces more user-friendly and can include adequate information on installation, known bugs and information for newbie in their module "zip". Sometimes, searching for release notes of specific version of modules is a hard work for newbie when they are rare in the seas of Yahoo!, Google and Xoops.org.

Hi, all!

Is it the problem of FCKeditor? not the problem of UserPage or News?

However, Instant-Zero claims that both UserPage and News are compatible with XOOPS 2.3.2. If only the default editor can be used and there are still errors occurring when using UserPage and News with FCKeditor, how can it said both modules are compatible??

Is there any solution to fix these problems, especially with FCKeditor? I tried to use the latest version of FCKeditor (FCKeditor_2.6.3) but there were still the same problem and and even more additional problems. Hope anyone would find solutions to fix these problems!

Thanks a lot!

In the release note of Instant-Zero, it said,

"Instant Zero is very happy to present you a new version of the XOOPS News module.
This new version, 1.63, introduces some bugs corrections and introduces a new functionality, Tags

Where to download the module ?
The module can be found in its homepage:
http://xoops.instant-zero.com/modules ... ory/product.php?prod_id=1

How to upgrade ?
Be sure to update the files on your server with the new one and update the module in the XOOPS modules manager.
after this, YOU MUST go in the module's preferences, at least one time, to re validate them.

Translations
Some modifications were made to the translations.
Consult the lang.diff file.

Note about the tags

- The use of tags and the generation of tags cloud are linked to the use (and of the installation) of the "Tag" module created by phppp.

YOU CAN'T USE TAGS IF THIS MODULE IS NOT INSTALLED
So you must download and install this module before to be able to use tags in the News module:

For XOOPS 2.3.x :
https://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=4477

For XOOPS 2.0.x :
http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/?tag

Best regards,
Instant Zero"

So you must install "Tag" module.

The download link can be found here:
http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1354

Me too. Maybe it needs a tag cloud module. Try to search for it. I set the block to invisible and no more blank page occurs.

You may first turn on the "Debug" in the "Preferences" of XOOPS and note down any error occurred after you clicked "Submit".

When a blank page happens, there may be some error(s) occurred.
