Please do not include my name in any nominations. I'm not interested in management and will not fill any management role.

Thank you.

Effective immediately, I am stepping down from all XOOPS Project positions.

D.J. is now your sole leader.

My only involvement with XOOPS will be confined to XOOPSinfo.

Good Luck!

Thank you for the invitation, but I will have to respectfully decline.

At present, I'm already on 3 teams. I don't want to spread myself too thin.

Catz,

I'm glad to see you've decided to keep working towards the greater good of XOOPS.

Just to touch on a few points so there is no confusion...

Skalpa's resignation was formally announced by his replacement; that being D.J..

Yes, there was some confusion for a while. Now, the confusion has been cleared up and we are moving forward.

The teams were created to do the work that needs done in order to get things back on track. You can't repair a ship if there isn't a skilled team to do the repair work.

The current leadership model is simple and temporary. We are moving away from a single point of leadership to a distributed model where there is no single point of failure. This cannot be done overnight. It has to be done progressively.

This is also how the team at XOOPSinfo functions. There is no 1 person with absolute say. Everything is discussed and there must be a majority consensus among the team before action is taken.

Regarding your points about leadership...

"A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go, but ought to be." - Rosalynn Carter

"There comes a moment when you have to stop revving up the car and shove it into gear." - David Mahoney

The above is what I see coming from D.J.

I would also go as far to say that the following quote sums up the direction we are going...

"Surround yourself with the best people you can find, delegate authority, and don’t interfere as long as the policy you’ve decided upon is being carried out." - Ronald Reagan

Pardon the overuse of famous quotes, but they clearly state what would have taken me 2 pages to say.

I sincerely hope that you, Marco, Herve and anyone else who is similarly motivated will step up and say, "Count me in! I want to help guide XOOPS in the right direction."

Bring your strengths, skills and beliefs to the table so that the leadership of this project and community gains in strength. However, to be effective, you must also bring to the table an open mind and a willingness to work as a team member.

"The country is full of good coaches. What it takes to win is a bunch of interested players." - Don Coryell

I believe from the current information gathered from these forums you have all voted to nix the idea or request for a end-user forum.

Vote? What vote? I casted no vote.

I recommend the following guidelines across the board.

1.One person can be on no more than one team, with the exception of representing their team on a council.

How is that fair to those of us that are multitalented? My degree is in IT, so I volunteer on the Server Admin Team. I taught myself web design while I was in college, so I also volunteer on the Design Team. That rule would eliminate the ability to volunteer my skills in two major areas of XOOPS. I'm sorry, but I don't agree to this point. However, I would agree that members should only be Team Leader of 1 team, but are welcome to volunteer anywhere where their skills are useful.

I agree 1000% here!

IMHO there is a difference between a community site and a personal site.

A personal site is a site wich is develloped and maintained by a person who doesn't have to count with the ideas and feelings of anyone.
A community site has in my opinion give itself a task. It wants to serve a goal. To make it work and getting to that goal the sites has to count with ideas and feelings of the community. So a personal site can do want he/she wants. A community site has to serve and respect the community.

Just my two cents

Agreed. 2 examples:

Personal: (MWR)http://mywebresource.com/
Community: (Xi)http://xoopsinfo.com/

MWR is a "one man show"; therefore, a personal site. Xi was built by members of the community, for members of the community and facilities are in place to gather and implement community feedback.

Big difference.

akitson,

I understand what you are saying. However, I'm not deferring control to DJ, only deferring comment until DJ has had reasonable opportunity to reply. There is a big difference between assertion and aggression. I think we all can agree that there has been too much aggression around here as of late.

I was made aware that during the time of the previous posts, DJ was in transit from China to his home. He now is home and is catching up on matters, as we've seen by his posts.

Every effort is going to be made to ensure that effective communication takes place by the members of the council and we all get on the same page so XOOPS can move forward.

IMHO, ensuring that everyone clearly understands the direction we are moving is imperative. Otherwise, we will only recreate the mess we had before.

<{$xoops_footer}>

If your theme has the above SMARTY variable in it, like the above code does, just go to System Admin »» Preferences Main »» Meta Tags and Footer then add what you want in the Footer box and click GO!.

Your code will now display in the footer of your site.

Again, you're confusing themes with templates. Please see XOOPS for Dummies.

This would take care of that for you...

<{if $xoops_isuser == false}><!-- your static line --><{else}><a href="<{$xoops_url}>/user.php?op=logout"><!-- code for your image --></a><{/if}>

HTH.
