Re: Visitor count in Whos Online block is incorrect

If your site is getting little traffic you won't have an accurate Who's Online. It is tuned to work better under at least a bit of load.

Connections will linger if there isn't much traffic. Another issue for many sites is a changing hostname after the first redirect. With and without a www or an IP address etc.

Sure you can. I don't know what you're using to redirect but I never had trouble with firewalls and SOHO routers and even pcs.

Re: Big sendmail problem

Your hosting account should have specs for sending email. The SMTP option is used if the sending server isn't the same as your web server. Check the host server, ask "what specs do I use to send email from the web server?".

You can get a lot of server info from a php_info() page. Create a text file with a .php extention with the following line in it:
<?php phpinfo(); ?>

Re: Banner problem

You could try overwriting the banner.php file again with the latest.

Re: Big sendmail problem

Are you sure that you have to use the sendmail option and not php_mail? If the same server does your email than php_mail usually works. I don't know what options you have in the server control panel but you typically only need to allow "localhost" and your own domain for relay.

Of course you might have to use authenticated sendmail but the host would have given you the specs, server, id, password..

oh, what are the server specs? Linux/MS, apache/IIS, php version, XOOPS versions, etc.

Re: Changing the template in News 1.3 - impossible?

Did you make sure that the new templates are in your custom template set? You might want to delete all the templates in your News (via the admin panel) and Generate a new set. Of course you have this custom set as the main system template?

Also, caching could make your changes invisible until the cache times out.

That's just it.... 46 links on my page each pointing to 46 different links.

Similar to how the XOOPS redirect page works you would simply pass the desired URL to the single script and it will take care of the redirect and countdown. No need for 46 different scripts, just one. One script and 46 different URLs (you're putting those links in anyway so the only thing different is the link).

I'm not doing the same thing as this but somewhat similar is that when I refer to the external URL of any of our site's partners instead of giving the direct URL I give the Partner module's URL for that partner. The user only sees the external page but it has already passed via the Partner module (xoops Partner, Smartpartner, whatever) and as such registers a click. This works great and requires nothing special, only a different URL link.

Re: going to another site

or point to a stand alone page on your site that contains a timeout and redirect (similar to the redirect pages of xoops). Your link would feed the external URL to the script.
