Re: Keeping it all together

I would like to see all the official sites under the xoop.org domain. This would be the ideal situation and from a user perspective this makes XOOPS much better organized than XOOPS information being scattered over several domains. So some time ago I suggested this too.

Perhaps someone can explain why for maintenance and access rights it is easier to use the several domains approach.

When you do use the several domains approach, it is possible to still keep the same look and feel by using the same theme design for the XOOPS sites navigation. If this is done correctly I believe it would be more user friendly, but of course not as user friendly as using one domain name.

Re: EFQ Directory....... anyone using it?

I found many bugs in the previous alpha version during my work on the new version but I am getting close to finishing it. I still hope to get the release candidate out in the end of this weekend.

I will be very happy to get your feedback for possible improvements. I will keep you updated on the progress...

Re: Open holes and hacked

From what I read about it, basically it lets the file types added to the handler load as cgi-script and at the same time not execute them.

Instead of executing the files it shows them as plain text in the browser.

I wonder what happens if a .php3 file is added to the upload directory. Does the script look at the file type or does it try to match the extension of the file (in which case .php3 would still be executed as php file with the above line).

Has someone tested this?

Re: Xoops Community Manifest : moving forward past negative attitudes

@everyone,

The changes that happened in the last week made many people to put aside the negative things that happened over the past few years. The open source spirit is based upon the will to create something together.

I hope that everyone who wishes to contribute to XOOPS in this open source spirit recognizes this within each other. XOOPS as a whole has made mistakes, yet we all stick with it and try to make it better. For individual members the same applies. All XOOPS members who are willing to work on the improvement of XOOPS are welcome.

Edited: many posts have been written in this thread while I was typing this. Nevertheless, in my opinion this post is still relevant for the manifest

Re: [XoopsTeam] progress - Communications Team - June 10th

I support the idea of having support in local languages on the official X.org site (by means of subdomain or multilangual tool). For users of XOOPS it is much easier to get support because they don't need to post a question on for example xoops.nl as well als xoops.org. Another advantage as mentioned is that design, layout and logo are all easier managed as well as the hardware behind the site(s).

Re: [XoopsTeam] - News Team To Become Communication Team?

I believe the people who signed up for the various roles in the communication area form a good mix together. Tom, I think you would do an excellent job as the team leader of communication. You have my support

Great to see you on the promotion team. I think time is a limiting factor for all of us. With a lot of people who help we can accomplish great results working together

Module development team

In the news item 'letter to the community' a team for module development was mentioned. What exactly is the purpose of this team?

Is it meant for:
1. Maintaining dev.xoops.org?
2. Development of 'official' (or community supported) XOOPS modules?
3. Quality assurance of modules that are released as stable on dev.xoops?

Perhaps a combination of these three? I can think of multiple purposes, but I am wondering what the intention was by naming this team.
