Thanks flipse,

Good to hear there has been some movement on this. (And Rodney, I look forward to seeing your work as well!)

With regard to the Membership module made by Simon, is there any documentation available? I've tried to install and am running into some problems:

- My XOOPS install is 2.5.5
1) Unpacked xoops2.5_membership_1.09.zip and got modules/membership and modules/xpayment directories. "membership" is a regular module, while "xpayment" is a plugin - I'm not sure how plugins differ from modules.
2) Uploaded "membership" and "xpayment" to the "modules/" directory on my server.
3) Proceeded to XOOPS Module admin page. Only "membership" showed up in modules to install, not "xpayment."
4) Proceeded to install "membership". The installation output said this at the bottom:
=====
Setting group rights...
Added admin access right for Group ID 1
Added user access right for Group ID: 1
Added user access right for Group ID: 2
Added user access right for Group ID: 3

Failed to execute xoops_module_install_membership

Module Membership installed successfully.
=====

Ok, so... did it install successfully, or not? :)

5) Proceeded to the module Preferences page for "membership" and selected the "Expired Group", etc. Then when I click the "Go" button at the bottom, I get:

=====
A problem has occurred on our server!
Page is currently unavailable

We are working on a fix
Please come back soon ...

Error : Handler does not exist
Module: xpayment
Name: invoice
=====

It looks like this is because the xpayment module / plugin isn't installed. But I don't see xpayment show up in the Modules admin interface (even though it is in the modules/ directory on the server).

Any advice at this point?

Cheers,

- b -

EDIT: Just had a facepalm moment when I realized that I need to install the xpayment _module_ separately from the xpayment _plugin_ FOR the xpayment _module_ that is included in the membership module. Apologies for the confusion. Installing xpayment module... :-/

*BUMP*

Has there been any news on this front?
I'd like to add a subscription side to my XOOPS site:

- Yearly subscription fee
- Subscribers get access to private forums, newsletters, video clips, documents, etc.
- Non-subscribers can still access the public forums

What's the best solution out there for this type of thing?

Cheers,

Belated thanks!

The Liaise served the purpose quite nicely!

I don't see much in the way of Contact modules in the Module repository that appear to have what I'm looking for. It's surprising that a system that's been around as long as XOOPS has wouldn't have this. Does everyone just make their own custom hacks or what? :)

Hi All,

I'm using Xoops 2.5.5, and have a members-only section of my website for people who possess physical membership cards for the organization that the site is geared towards.

What I'd like to do is verify people's membership in the organization in order to grant access to the private forum, by having them submit (upload) a scan of their membership card, which would then be approved by a moderator / admin.

Does anyone know of a module that can (or can be modified to) do this?

Thanks in advance for any info / pointers.

Thanks for the reminder about extcal. I haven't tried that one for a while. I installed and played around it with it today, and it performs better than I remember _but_ I can't figure out how to approve events.

As administrator, if I set events to auto-approve, they work, but I would rather have a screening process in place to prevent spam, so I would like user-submitted events to be held for approval by admins or moderators. From what I can see I have set it to do this, but then when I submit an event from my regular user account, I don't see any place to approve it in the admin interface. It shows up in the event list, and I can edit, delete, and clone it - but I can't see how to actually approve it so that it shows up to users in the calendar. Maybe I'm blind... :)

Anyone out there have experience with ExtCal that can offer suggestions?

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good Calendar / Event booking module that works with XOOPS 2.5.5? I have tried a few, such as APCal, but haven't been able to get them to work to my satisfaction on 2.5.5. (APCal, for example, gives me garbled dates and seems to have a conflict with Protector when I try to submit/register an event.)

Event booking / listing is a big part of my site's purpose, so I would really like to get a good Calendar / Event module up and running properly.

Thanks for any recommendations and suggestions.

Thanks very much for your advice - problem solved.

I was looking for the upgrade/ directory in the htdocs/ directory, and when I didn't see it there, I assumed that the upgrade process had changed in the long time it's been since I've done an upgrade on my site. Thanks for taking the time to download the package and check that - and sorry for my careless mistake.

I followed your directions above and it went very smoothly.

Thanks again,

Quote:
In XOOPS 2.5.x, you go in your FTP and delete all the files in:

xoops_data/caches/smarty_cache
xoops_data/caches/smarty_compile
xoops_data/caches/xoops_cache

except the index.html files

Ok, done.

Quote:

Check in phpMyAdmin in _modules table if Protector is disabled (isActve set to 0)

Yes, it is set to 0.

Quote:
Just use the full 2.5.5

- remove mainfile.php favicon install and cache folder
- move upgrade folder to htdocs/upgrade
- replace all files in your website.
- follow /upgrade

I don't have an upgrade/ folder in the "xoops2.5.0-to-2.5.4.zip" I downloaded from Sourceforge.

Should I just go get the 2.5.5 files from Sourceforge and follow those instructions, or will that mess something up now that I've started down this path?
