Guys...don't get too excited. I might not be able to pull it off!

Additionally, it isn't an XOOPS modukle - it will be a standalone program, command line at first, witha GUI to follow later on.

As I said, ambitious plans for a first project, but I am working on it. Already got the FTP connection in place - working on the MySQL connection, then the download of the files and and the dump of the database.

It's of no help to you now, but I am currently writing a Python program that will do both an FTP download and a MySQL backup all in one with minimal input from the user (many tools do both seperately but none, that I could find, to do both) called 'TSB - Total Site Backup'.

Might be a few weeks yet though, if not months!

This is really starting to hack me off.

I have just upgraded from CBB 3.07 to 3.08. As advised, I have uploded the latest Frameworks folder, and the latest XOOPS Editors folder.

Upgraded the module via System Admin --> Modules --> Upgrade. Seems to have gone OK.

Upgraded the System module via the same means.

But, just as before, the same bloody problem and just like before I've spent half of my day off from work trying to fix the bloomin thing! For clarity :

1) CBB 3.08 downloaded from here
2) Frameworks downloaded from
here
3) XoopsEditors downloaded from
here
4) The editors are in the path /mysite.com/class/xoopseditors/etc
5) The Frameworks folder is in the path /mysite.com/Frameworks
6) The /class/xoopseditors/koivi/dialogs.php file, on line 57 where it says //include_once'../../../../mainfile.php'; is commented out with the two //. I tried uncommenting it, re-uploading it, no change. I then tried removing the first ../ as suggested earlier, re-uploaded it, astill no difference. So I have tried :

//include_once '../../../../mainfile.php';
include_once '../../../../mainfile.php'; and
include_once
'../../../mainfile.php';

None work.

And to make matters even worst, the 'Extended DHTML Form' editor that worked fine before now has three icons missing itself, namely, 'Smily', 'Flash' and 'WIKI Link'. All point to gif files that are actually there. So now the only functional editor I have is plain text.

And I so I have tried deleting all of the 3 sets of files (Newbb, Framworks, and Xoopseditors) then re-uploading them. It took ages, which has added to my irritability. I know that the uploads are OK. They match what I downloaded from the site.

So am I being a total dumb ass here, or is something else fundamantally wrong? I stress that I have a couple of other XOOPS sites and they all work fine. But this one doesn't. I've got no idea why.

I've got round it by just deleting header05.gif! It leaves a small white space between the admin menu and the top logo, but if anything, I think it makes it look better! So a good result all round.

Thanks for help anyways.

Thanks to you both.

I tried removing the vspace and hspace attributes. No difference.

The issue relating to the <!-- --> tags was a typo. I did actually remove the first --> so there was just one <!-- and one --> near the end. For clarity I have re-pasted the code exactly as it stands now having made various adjustments.

I also noticed that there were no /> tags at the end of the img tags, so I added those, but also no difference.

I had a look at the header_05.gif issue. All I can find in theme.html is :

</tr>
    <
tr>
      <
td id="header_05"></td>
    </
tr>
  </
tbody>
</
table>

In the associated style.css file there is this entry :

td#header_05 {background-image: url(images/header_05.gif);height: 18px;width: 750px;}

For clarity, here is the code of the central block (with the adjustments mentioned) as it stands now (remember, this is just the block HTML, not the whole site) :

Specs : Theme : 'blues', XOOPS 2.0.16,

Can people visit www.nlts.co.uk and try to help me out with an irritating problem.

The 3 signs on the right hand side of the central block and the central bit of text are all contained within one block. As it stands at the moment, there is an annoying bit of colour towards the top left just above where it says 'North Lindsey...". The code for the block currently is as follows :

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<
html>
<
head>
  <
meta content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"

hspace="5" vspace="5">

[i]all the text removed as it is not relevant and is just standard parapgraphs[/i]

Now, if I remove the entry for the Dangerous Goods signs using commenting out, it works fine. So just by doing this :

I am starting to worry about your physchic abilities Dave! First you are able to recall degrees of customisation conducted on a site from ages ago, and then you realise that I'm doing a complete overall with nothing more than a mention of a system upgrade and some blocks movement!....or have you read the 'site closed' message

Yes, you are correct - I am doing an overhaul. Applyinmg upgrades to core, modules, and installing a few new one's (except it seems some need PHP5 which we do not run on our server).

I am using an old theme called 'doggie' - stop sniggering! To my knowledge, it has not been updated. But I will have a look.

I would like to use a new theme, but Lost-Doggies has become quite well known with it's 'family fun' styled dog theme. Would be a shame to change it. A corporate theme would not suit it's intended purpose.

Cheers

2.0.16 - How to use the new block structure?

Hi

Sorry for been a dumbo, but having upgraded from 2.0.13.2 to 2.0.16 I thought I'd take advantage of the new block structure. Having selected which blocks I wanted moving around, I notice that the 'center left' and 'center right' top and bottom are still being listed below my 'central' blocks.

I recall Herve telling me in a thread somewhere that you had to adjust the theme.html file in some way for the new flexible block strucutre to work? Can anyone refresh my memory and tell me what it is I need to change? I have read all the release notes, README's, and done a search, but alas I cannot find it.

Cheers

Ted

CBB is fully integrated into your XOOPS site (once you download install it) and fully supported and regularily updated by phpppp. If you want my advice, install it and use it. It has all the features (well, all the ones I have ever needed) that phpBB has but works better with your own site.

I generally disable all caching until my site is all set up, tweaked, fine tuned, and ready to go. Caching is great for speed improvements (particularily in areas of your site that you may only update once a month for example) but irritating when applied to areas that are updated frequently or are dynamic by their nature (for example, discussion forums).

Templates_c only need to be emptied (apart from the index.html file) when you have made changes to a module or when you have upgraded part or all of your site. Often, if you don't refresh it, changes won't always show.

But, once you have your site set up, and in between upgrades, the folder does not need emptying and you can tunr the 'update templates bla blah blah...' in system preferences to 'No' as opposed to 'Yes'.
