Thanks Mithrandir!

I tried again with the PHP Debugging turned on and got a fatal error:

Fatal errorSmarty: [in db:system_block_online.html line 5]: syntax errorinvalid attribute name'k.lang_more' (Smarty_Compiler.class.phpline 1334in /home/tastesof/public_html/xoops/class/smarty/Smarty_Compiler.class.php on line 1824

Since I'm unfamiliar with Smarty and only moderately experienced with PHP, this one is over my head.

Templates_c ARE used - but by the Smarty engine. They are compiled templates.

Thanks for the responses!

What do you mean by "compiled templates". How are they used? Do you mean that they "WERE" used (compiled) at the time of the installation, but are no longer relevant after the installation?

Thanks!

As a beginner with XOOPS, I have been trying to edit the physical template files and upload them via ftp to my web site directory, only to find that the change does not show up.

By examining the MySQL database, I finally discovered that the source code for each template file is actually stored in a database table, and must be edited there through the XOOPS administration interface.

This makes sense to me now, but it was very confusing to me before I figured it out, and there doesn't seem to be much mentioned about it in the documentation.

What doesn't make sense to me is: Why are there physical files in the templates_c directory when they aren't actually used?

Problem Choosing Template Set in Prefs

I have cloned the default template set, immediately following a fresh install of XOOPS via the cPanel installer script. The version installed is 2.0.5.2.

Now, when I choose the cloned template set to be the default in the Preferences > General Settings and click the Submit button, I get a blank page. If I go back it is clear that the change did not stick. The default template set is still assigned as the Default Template Set.

(BTW, that duplication of terms should be addressed in a future version. Perhaps the actual defaul set should be called something else, like template set one, while the preference title remains Default Template Set.)

I have tried this several times with the same result. I even deleted the installation and reinstalled.

Any ideas?

Unique Block style in column

I need to find a way to have one block in a column have a unique style from the rest of the blocks in the column, i.e. different colors, font size, etc.

To see what I mean, take a look at the design I'm trying to port to XOOPS:

Nevus.org design mock-up

I want to create the navigational menu a the top of the left column using something like the multiMenu module.

Essentially, I'm having trouble breaking down the CSS and determining how this can be accomplished.
