CBB is an enhancement module of NewBB2. As far as i know, there's no database changes & folder name is still "newbb". Just replace & overwrite the files. Update your templates. That's it.

Note: NewBB2 project is no more exist.

Make sure you change the XOOPS_URL and XOOPS_ROOT_PATH correctly.

Let us know what error message you have there.

Starting from XOOPS 2.2, there're no more official module for xoops. Meaning to say, core team doesn't responsible for the any module.

I can promise you anything, but CBB/NewBB & X-IPB are the best forum modules available.

Change xoops_users ('xoops_' prefix) to your prefix (if needed).
