Got it covered. It's amazing what 12 hour days of trying to figure this out will teach you.

Hi All,

Pardon the newbie question - I did search but I guess I'm not using the correct keywords. If I am transferring an exsiting site over ot XOOPS, how can I keep the existing page names for the main pages? Is it not possible and I should expect to use mod_rewrite to redirect old page to new XOOPS page name which include the /modules/wfchannels/ directories, or is there another way? It wouldn't matter so much but some of them rank nicely in Google's index.

Thanks,

Cuidiu

Search Members by State

I've decided to keep trying to get the membership site going with XOOPS because it's really such a wonderful CMS. I'm totally awed by it. So, I'm trying to figure out how I can hack XM-Memberstats to search by state along with the other options. Can anyone help? This would help quite a bit. It would be great to add extra fields to the existing fields that show in the listing of members but if that's not possible, a search by state would be great. I could probably add a note to the top that instructs users to search by state by adding the state abbreviation in the search field but it would be nice to have a dropdown or something to that effect.

Any ideas? Could really use some help...

Interesting. I posted about this (2.2.3 vs 2.0) the other day and wasn't told this at all. What seemed important was the security patch. Well, now I know. I have not made the site live so I guess I'll have to go down to version 2.0 instead. Now if I could just remember which modules I took that were geared for version 2.2.3...

To clarify a few things: 2.2 is, technically speaking, a two years leap backward for XOOPS. It is not only a lot slower, but its architecture has also been greatly damaged in a way that makes it impossible to fix entirely.

Oh thanks! I've been uploading so many modules, etc., I forget which ones have more info than others, which ones I have read documents and which not. So much to do, so little time...

Thanks for the reply, nobu. I will be moving the CMS to another server. It is on my testing site so yes, there could be a problem. Who knows!

I have another question. Is there any way to add more fields to the reservation sign up (so far there is name, email, I'd like to see a few more fields)?

Thanks again!

Member's area includes:
* A Business listing directory page that display other members and their home/company contact info in alphabetical order.
gestroud wrote:
ADDRESSEShttps://xoops.org/modules/repository/singlefile.php?cid=81&lid=1101

This does not work for what I need. What I need should be integrated with members. If a member registers, he gets his info listed in the direcories. Like an extended classified ad taken from members profile information.

* Membership renewal application form.
gestroud wrote: SET UP WITH SUBSCRIBTIONS MODULE

It's a possibility. More on that below.

* Conference registration form.
gestroud wrote: EVENTShttps://xoops.org/modules/repository/singlefile.php?cid=109&lid=1556 or RESMANAGER

I experimented with Events Guide quite a bit and despite nobu's attempts to help, it just isn't working right with 2.2.4 or something on the server. Even if it was, it wouldn't be tied into the conference registration page/subscription page. It would be an extra step and we don't need to ask members to reserve in 2 different areas or forms. It would be nice for the admin but members would surely complain. I think the same would apply for resmanager but I have not looked at it yet.

Public area includes:
* Business listing page for consumers to view, displaying similar info as in the member's only listing except no personal info displayed. Listings are sorted by locale/state, then by last name. Contact a member link via contact form.
gestroud wrote: USE WEBLINKShttps://xoops.org/modules/repository/singlefile.php?cid=40&lid=1473. THE OTHER DIRECTORY LISTING MODULES LOOK PROMISING, BUT AREN'T READY YET.

Any of the directory listings need to be tied into the member information/profile somehow. As I said above, if a member has registered, his listing shows in the directories automatically. Listings would also need to be updated if modified by the user and removed automatically upon membership expiration. Xmmemberstats is almost what I need but would require much hacking in order to incorporate other information from profiles. I don't even know if this is possible. I posted but have not heard anything.

gestroud wrote: USE THIS CONTACT MODULE:https://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2824 YOU WILL HAVE TO HACK INTO AN HTML TEMPLATE IN THE WEBLINKS MODULE IF YOU WANT TO ADD A LINK TO YOUR CONTACT FORM. MEMBER NAMES HAVE TO BE ADDED MANUALLY TO THE CONTACT FORM.

Contacting a member would be automatic if I could use Xmmemberlist. Speaking of forms... after trying all contact modules to no avail (I assume due to using version 2.2.4), I finally got Liaise to work but only *after* downloading a newer version from the developer's site. This has potential for the conference registration form but how to tie it in with payment in the subscription module is beyond me.

Also needed:
* If a member updates his account info, the business listings would automatically be updated.
* If member does not renew, he would be automatically removed from the member/consumer business listings as well.
* When a member joins, membership is activated by Admin.
* Track of membership expirations, send renewal reminders, track and confirm conference registrations.

This is just to get you started. Play around with the modules and get accustomed to them. When you have questions, feel free to post them. Like I said, we've ALL been there before.

The Thirdeye module has potential but the third-party plugin (LinkPoint) won't be ready until mid-May or so. Maybe later? I sent an email about doing custom work and I will email again but I'm coming to the conclusion that there's just way too much customizing/hacking to be done. What happens with an upgrade or security patch... would all hacked modules fail?

I thank you for the time you spent answering. I took your advice and have worked hard at it for 2+ days, loading countless modules. So far, it is looking grim and I can expect no compensation if XOOPS will not work for this client. If this were my own site, it wouldn't be so bad. Perhaps I can use what I've learned for the future but for now... I don't know.

I think the whole thing rests upon whether Thirdeye software can help with customizing and I'm having my doubts about that. Perhaps because I've had little sleep and mountains of frustration.

Thanks anyway.

This one is curious error. Where come from "/usr/cgi-system/php.cgi"? It not include eguide and XOOPS core.

It comes after adding or deleting a category - when the page refreshes - that's what appears. It is from the server. Something isn't right.

Quote:
It is right. Category not delete when there is event exists in that category. If you want to remove category, you need remove or move out all events.

I deleted all events, then I deleted all categories. After the database updated and screen refreshed, the same errors appeared.

I again added a new category and still got the same error. It is adding and deleting categories fine but still getting the error messages. If I do add an event there is now no place to select a category to add it to. When I view an event as a registered user, it shows "[Empty]" over on the far right where "category" would be and there's no way to assign it a category in the admin.

I will uninstall and start again.

Btw, I am using version XOOPS 2.2.4.

Thanks again.
