Fantastico is ok. It doesn't chmod the 7 or 8 directories for Invision Board, and doesn't let you know the password for your database. Atleast the one my host gave me doesn't. I prefer to install all stuff it can do myself. Atleast that way I don't have to go far to find the person who screwed it up.

Recoded Nukescripts.net member paypal block to sorta work with Xoops.
It was connecting to PayPal and using the IPN. It actually added members to specific groups....it was working.
Anyways I was trying to change it over to use the smarty templates and made a mess, a big mess of things.......and then realised that I did not backup the original files.......lost......poof.....gone....back to square one.
Not gonna play with til I figure out this smarty thing.

BACKUP.......BACKUP......BACKUP

Another reason I don't code things. I'm lucky enough to not crash a server in Alaska just by checking my email.

Out of curiousity, which version of it did fantastico install? The version my host has is 2.0.4 and the version a friend of mines host has is 2.0.5. I remember when the xoops.org site was doing that. I think it was a theme problem if I remember correcrtly.

I've edited a theme.html file and then accidently uploaded it into the wrong theme folder. As a matter of fact, I've done this twice now recently.

I don't think I can count how many times I've done that or uploaded a file with the same name into the wrong folder.

Without a doubt the best looking XOOPS site I've seen so far. I couldn't even tell XOOPS was under all of that until I started looking at the links.

The site I'm doing so far has a free image host (powered by xcGal) and a message board (powered by the Invision Board Module). I just thought that adding a blog ability to it would be something my users could use, and would help keep them stuck to the site.

I'm just a bit uneasy giving any admin permissions to everyone. Wouldn't they be able to delete someone elses blog files or mangle them or something?

Putting the wrong database username and password for your installation of XOOPS can guarantee a blank page.

So can installing a new version but connecting to an old database without making sure you have also copied the theme over as well.

Hmm. I never thought of doing it like that. I wasn't sure if some features would be cancelled out or what. I shall have to try that next time.

Oh, and can't wait for the news block update.
