I think I can simplify the question...

I appears to occur in just about any 'content' style module...
..and I am guessing it is in the core, not the theme or the module itself.

Here it is...

If we put a table in the content, the front-end display "spreads out" the content - top to bottom -, wanting to bottom-justify the table.

The HTML code generated is throwing in 10 or more
<br>
between the single first line of text and the actual table.

...just can't find where this is happening.

There is no blank lines in the source of this, between the top line and the table...

This is stopping us from formatting article text with tables.

...any help?

Here is a typical result of using a table
Set up 3 articles in Smartsection on a test site here:

http://www.backupkit.com/modules/smartsection/category.php?categoryid=2

Coventry 1, 2 3 show the issue

Also...another test site, this time using News:

http://www.remotekit.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=1

We have about run out of ideas trying to understand this...

There is a strange formatting issue we see when we place an HTML table in content. Let me describe it:

Most content modules allow you an Intro Text area and a Main or Extended Text area.

We put a single sentence in the Intro...and a small table (say 6x4) in the Main.

The resultant front-end page has a tremendous amount of "air" between the Intro line and the table. It is as if the table is "bottom-aligned."

We want the table to appear as the next line after the Intro when the article is read....now, you have a full blank screens-worth or two between them.

Tried all sorts of variations on the tags to create the tables...no help.

I see this in several content modules... we tried Content, News, SmartSection....they all react the same.

Are we fighting a style sheet issue?... tried different themes...still unlucky.

Can anyone explain this?

Thanks

I used SmartSection to create a Video Library by category.

Each article is simply a description of the clip...and the YouTube imbed url.

Works fine...

Need help finding and adapting a module

We have a requirement to provide a reference "database" for a list of car dealerships by state and the particular vintage cars that they sold.

What this would be is an entry point with a list of states... each state would contain the list of dealers...and each dealer would contain the small list of cars by serial number.

I am looking for an existing module that we could adapt.

I did this same task on a Joomla site, using a "Cookbook" module (Gary's Cookbook 2.x) and it came out remarkably well.

We tweaked it thusly:
We changed the categories to mean states

We changed the recipes to mean dealers

..and then used the ingredients area to list the cars in table form by serial number

Dealer Name
Dealer State
History (text area)
Individual Cars
Details (text area)
Notes (text area)

The XOOPS module Recette seems a stretch to be a candidate this time around...but we'll play with it and report back.

oh... the module must be Xoops-searchable.

Any creative ideas on this?

Thanks

have you remembered also to upload Frameworks directory to your XOOPS root?

It takes a mighty big man to come back and admit he was a horse's butt on this one.

Of course, I had Frameworks.... but not THE Frameworks to make Planet work.

I should have heeded the advice on the forge page and downloaded the latest Frameworks pack linked on that page....

...a little troubleshooting revealed there were all sorts of references that didn't exist in the existing Frameworks that I had on this site.

Removed and replaced Frameworks with the new one...and guess what?

...it worked.

Lesson to the bothsides...developers should indicate a version required for supporting software...users should read and heed what they say!

(p.s. Planet 2.02 looks buggy...doesn't display dates; shows a "c" where article create dates should be. Reverted to 2.01 and going live with that)

One last plea for info...

Hey...no one is responding to the issues commented in the "Planet" News article here....
...there's not much info here when I do a search...
...the author's site is a dead-duck...

This is looking like a dead-end.
A shame...since I do see Planet working on a lot of sites.

The module kind of installs, but with a fatal error. Most of the admin sections error out as well.

However we hit the module, we get:

Fatal errorCall to undefined function: mod_loadfunctions() in /usr/local/etc/httpd/htdocs/my-site-root/modules/planet/class/category.php on line 36

That error, "Call to undefined function: mod_loadfunctions()" shows up with different files, but the same type error, as we poke around the choices.

If there is no hope on this one....can anyone point us to another news reader module? ...that works?

Thanks

Can anyone running Planet check in with a sanity check for me?

Did it install OK and run out of the box? ..or did it require any coaxing?
