Go to your themes folder and there should be a file called "theme.html" not blue.html

http://www.yourwebsite.com/themes/themefolder/theme.html

Place it wherever you want it to show.

There is no need to put it in the news templates as you can already set which module you want the banner to show within rw banners admin.

aye, but it didnt take a genius since it registered to two of my site with similar but not the same email address.

i.e pcnac****@

replace **** with random number.

Just had a thought, maybe the bot creates a random inbox and the person that owns the domain has a catch-all system where any email that goes to that domain regardless of whether the inbox exists then the email is forwarded by the catch-all system.

That would explain why they where able to activate and that it takes them a couple of days to post. hmmmmm.

actually, heres my thought.

If XOOPS is now being exploited by Spam Bots that can activate their accounts even though you have set your site to email activation only then surely there is a security issue within xoops.

this should be looked into ASAP.

right, its taken a new twist, this spammer is not only posting links, but is splurting anti gay messages also.

The best thing to do is get a hold of its/his list of websites and ban any email address from those sites.

1. Admin Control Panel
2. System Admin >> Preferences
3. User Info Settings
4. Enter emails that should not be used in user profile
5. Now Enter in each of its/hers website address seperating each with a | and place $ on the end of each URL.

This will stop any email address from those websites being used to sign up to your website.

Now if anyone wants the list of websites then please PM me.

Its ok the tag function has already been activated.

You just have to place the tag within your theme.html where you want the banner to show.

the following is the default tag so if you want to use that one then place it where you want your banners to show in your theme.html

<{$rw_banner}>

You can create new ones.

The message you are talking about will always remain their, its not a sign that means its not working.

Did you set anti-SPAM: URLs for normal users to 5 within preferences?

actually when banning him put url.info$ on all websites he uses.

Replace "url" with the domain. This will ban any email address from that domain.

banning that specific email address is not gonna get you anywhere as he will reregister using a different email address as he signed up to both of mines using the same server but different number after pcnax.

He also has a number of different websites that hes been spamming other places with (which i have passed on to vaughan).

Spam crime, together we can crack it. lol
