Hello-

I have been trying for over an hour now to get the polls to display on the main page for anonymous users, with no luck.

When I am on the "Blocks Administration" page, and choose Group: anonymous users and visible: all, the Polls do not even appear as an option.

The modules above and below show, but not polls.

Poll show fine for admininstrator.

Where is the switch to have Polls show for anonymous users?

Thanks

That got me halfway there, Hervé. Merci!

I ended up having to delete everything and starting over though. (I'm getting very good at that part now!) Even though I was able to login, when I addded the admin.php to the URL, I got the message:

"You don't have the right to access this area"

For future reference, is there a similar table for admin access as well that I need to edit?

I did it to myself again!!!

This time, I did not add any modules that were not standard. All I did was change what is visible on the main page.

I kept a backup copy of working files, and when I got the same permission denied message, I copied the backup back to the server. It made no difference. So the problem and solution is probably in the database somewhere.

The mistake I made (apparently) is that I removed the login from the home page, thinking that I could allow just anyone to visit the site, and if they wanted to register or login, they could do so from a different page. So now, I can't login since there is no fields visible.

I try to access admin.php, and get a message that It just says I don't have permission to view the page.

What can I do to fix this short of once again deleting everything and starting over?

Thanks

Hello

hervet - I couldn't even see the admin page. I ftp'd and edited the debug setting, but after I did, nothing changed - no errors were displayed.

anlace - lots of files to check, and I'm reluctant to make things too open.

I deleted everything, and am installing modules one at a time. I think one of the modules could be the problem. Is there a list somewhere that tells which modules can cause this, or is it all trial and error?

Thanks both of you for your time and ideas.

I've been searching this site for about an hour, and am feeling there is a better way to do this.

I had an installation that was working just fine. I sent the URL to a friend, and all that showed for her was the XOOPS banner.

I went back to my computer, where everything had been fine. However, when I went back to my XOOPS install, I, too, could only see the banner.

I then went to admin.php, and was told I don't have rights to the area.

I then searched this forum for "You don't have the right to access this area", and came up with nothing. I then tried "blank page", and it seems there is enough variations of this for it to be its own forum!

Nothing I looked at was what I'm experiencing, so I went to the faq, which leads to my question:

With two such clear symptoms: Only banner showing for users, and the specific error message coming from the admin page, can someone narrow down the problem?

There are enough possible problems and possible solutions in the faq, that it is just a big shot in the dark to follow them all. I have the sense that somebody here has encountered the exact situation I'm describing, and can narrow down the areas I need to troubleshoot, if not tell me what to do with this specific case.

Do these two symptoms seem familiar to anyone? If so, what now?
