hi mamba

yes, you are right, in 90% of the cases the errors are sitting in front of the keyboard

but in this case:
I have a XAMPP 3.2.2 with php 7 (settings see posting #9)
here I have the problems, when I install xoops 2.5.8

I have a XAMPP 3.2.1 with php 5.6
settings:
PHP Version 5.6.23
mySQL Version 5.6.16
Server API apache2handler
OS WINNT

table collation: utf8_general_ci

database server
Server: 127.0.0.1 via TCP/IP
Server type: MySQL
Server version: 5.6.16 - MySQL Community Server (GPL)
Protocol version: 10
User: root@localhost
Server charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)

Server connection collation: utf8mb4_general_ci

if I install xoops 2.5.7.1 on XAMPP 3.2.1 I have no problems

The settings in phpMyAdmin seems to be the same, and it is not possible to switch Server connection collation from utf8mb4_general_ci to utf8_general_ci (if I select this, it always switching back, I don't know why)

therefore, blame on someone

and now

Hi mamba

Quote:
Link to the Website? There might be something in the headers that is confusing the browser.

local site for testing; html header is fine

already in table 'newblocks' I find
Mitgliedsmenü

so the error happens when creating/filling the base tables during installing xoops

if I change name and title into
Mitgliedsmenü
in table new_blocks everthing is show proper

I tried the same with fresh xoops 2.5.7.1: there it works

Hi

I made german translation of xoops core.
All files are translated, also modules/system/language/german/modinfo.php (utf-8 without BOM)
...
// Names of blocks for this module (Not all module has blocks)
define("_MI_SYSTEM_BNAME2",   "Mitgliedsmenü");
define("_MI_SYSTEM_BNAME3",   "Einloggen");
define("_MI_SYSTEM_BNAME4",   "Suche");
define("_MI_SYSTEM_BNAME5",   "Wartende Übermittlungen");
define("_MI_SYSTEM_BNAME6",   "Hauptmenü");
...

Now I installed new fresh Xoops 2.5.8 and now I see e.g.
Mitgliedsmenü
or
Hauptmenü

ü instead of ü

website is
<html lang="de">

anyone an idea?

Hi supergran

it seems that you have only deleted the file shareaholic-script.tpl

you have to goto theme.tpl and remove line 38
<{includeq file="$theme_name/tpl/shareaholic-script.tpl"}>

Hi
I have successfully upgraded one of my my websites from 2.4.5 to 2.5.8

There was only one problem (for me a small one, maybe for other ones not):
after running "mydomain.com/upgrade/" I got the message, that upgrade was successfully finished and I have to go to modules admin (.../modules/system/admin.php?fct=modulesadmin) and to run update for system module. But there the modules list didn't appear because of a smarty error caused by missing template 'system_modules.tpl', therefore it was not possible to start module update from there as foreseen.
I manuelly started update of system module by 'http://mydomain/modules/system/admin.php?fct=modulesadmin&op=update&module=system' directly and after that everything was fine.

Now my suggestion: is it possible to run sytem module update automatically after finishing the upgrade procedure?
