That is how I handled the situation. I had a bare bones module that only loads a static html file. It can have submenu entries as well and worked great!

The only downside is that there is no way to edit the content via the web only at the command line or ftp.

So I switched to TinyD. It allows me to created static pages within the web interface. I can then hide the module, nad link to the static pages as needed. This is my new way to do it and I love it.

Hi OpMama,
I've used the Contact Us mod to create an empty module, dubbed Anyother. It will let you create another "Top Page", like I'm doing right now athttp://www.zoologia.bio.br/xoops/modules/anyother/

A better forum both for download and for use on the xoops.org website.
People that come to XOOPS to try it out before they download and install it are going to be a bit put off by the forum software and forum options currently available to us.

Either make NewBB 2 available to us in a working fashion or give us some module(s) that easily and fully integrate other forum software into the XOOPS software.

I love Xoops. I want to run Xoops. My users like it and have commented as much but the fact remains that they're not coming back as often as they used to and the ones that do visit aren't bothering with the forums at all any more. It's too difficult to find new posts and it lacks many features.

If we can't get a better solution, and fast, I'm going to have to scrap everything I've done to set up a nice XOOPS site and go with another CMS/Portal system. That sucks because the XOOPS system is by far the best I've tried of: MegaBBS (http://www.pd9soft.com), e107 (http://www.e107.org), Postnuke, php-nuke (nuke cops flavor).. I've also looked into Mambo, sphinx (early alpha or something), tot3 or whatever the hell it is.. basically I've seen and previewed/tried most of the popular CMS and Portals out there. XOOPS is the best for what I need. The forum software available to me in XOOPS is pathetic. :(

It's a GREAT start but why re-invent the wheel when a module to integrate an already established forum software would give us a great forum as a plug-in?

most typical users 'should' be able to figure this out, but to point out the obvious for them you can edit the language files.

Go to /language/english/user.php and edit:

Section:
//%%%%%% File Name register.php %%%%%

Look for the following line and change the 'Finish' text inside the quotes to whatever you want, like 'Click to Finish' for example.

define('_US_FINISH','Finish');

Save and upload and it's all done.

What are the issues? It seems to be working very well onhttp://testsite.xoops2.org/
Good enough for me anyway.. what version is running there? Is that the version that's available to download at:http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/?newbb
?

I REALLY need to get a forum installed. This old newbb isn't cutting it and my users are dropping off the site because the forum blows. The new one would help me retain users and make my life easier.

I have the exact same error and line number. Cant check my PHP version, but I know is near the latest (Verio Hosting)

I too am running FreeBSD.. anyone else? 2.0.7 was even worse, at least 2.0.6 installed fine.

But this error is causing all my pages to be blank, so I cant log in or anything.

Ah - Tips and Tricks Module - found it, thanks, that should work. I may even brave the code to see if I can speed up the refresh time.

Appreciate the help!!

You're still using 2.0 RC3? Wow That makes the answer a little difficult to search for tho. But basically, it should come down to changing a selected option somewhere in the code...

I am running XOOPS 2.0 RC3

I have a Forum of important but not so heavy topics. So the problem is that when a person goes into this or other Forums like it they don't see anything because the default sort is to show only posts from the last 100 days. Is there a way to change this? So it shows all posts? My whole site is not so active that I would mind if this was for all Forums and Topics.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Big

Yah MadFish? Maybe I installed the wrong one.. I remember being confused about which one to use.. the jp, improved/fixed or original. Perhaps I somehow got my grubbies on the old version or something. Hell it works now though so I'll leave it be.

Though I still wish someone would give the Classified ads module another look as XOOPS is really suffering for lack of a nice ads module. My webstats indicate that about 40% of my users are in the classified ads 80% of the time they're on my site. Whenever you go to my page, you'll see about half of the currently logged in users on the classified ads pages.
