And you are using the default template I take it? That is weird. You do have cookies enable on your browser don't you? Have you tried testing this on a different machine?

Yes to all of the above.

What kind of time period are we talking about. The code from the jan304 hack is set to leave the session open for 1 hour from memeory. I assume you're just logging in with the remember me checkbox selected, closing the browser and opening it again?

Yup. That's it exactly.

However, last night I decided to recreate my test site from scratch, and I could not get the checkbox to be displayed after applying the appropriate hack to a dead stock install of either 2.02 or 2.03.

Ah. I see what you're getting at. Nope...I'm getting the checkbox. It just isn't making it remember you when you tell it to do so!

Hey Ace_Armstrong,

Do you get the "Remember me?" checkbox? As I think the advantage with the hack from www.jan304.org is that you must select that checkbox to use the extended session timeout. Otherwise you use what ever the default session timeout you have set.

That's the one I am using, and like I said, it's just not working. Doesn't keep you logged in at all. *Grr!*

Re: Autologin for Xoops 2.0.x

I tried the edits listed here...got a big white screen and nothing else upon login.

So, I reverted the files to the standard and made sure that it was fixed. It was.

Uploaded Jan's hack. I can log in, but it doesn't work; it forgets the logins like always before.

Custom sessions are on. Everything should be set. But...nada.

Any insight?

In xoops_version.php of the newbb is a tag like

has_search = '1'

This defines if a module is searchable or not! If you change the 1 to 0 and update the newbb it can't be searched by anyone ..

Perfect!

Thanks, Chapi! As usual, you da man!

(BTW, nice job on the TinyContent update. Worked very smoothly for me.)

Re: Limiting anonymous users' search ability

Alternatively, can I just remove the newbb module from the list of modules than can be searched by anyone?

This project has to wrap in two days; it's a local school district that's the client and their budget ends on June 27, so I have to have it done and invoiced and they have to get the check cut by the 26th.

Thanks, guys! (And gals!)

Limiting anonymous users' search ability

Is there a way that we can allow registered users to search the message boards, but not allow anonymous users (who don't have access to those boards) to include the newbb module in the search?

Re: Some pointers on how to build a theme

I've been trying to figure out how to create a theme using Dreamweaver, netobjects Fusion, and a couple of other apps, and for some reason I just can't get them to work. It seems to me that it should be pretty straightfoward: create the look of the site as you want, make sure it has a three-column table, and then just insert the "<foreach>" code for each column (left, Center-center center-left center-right, and right), and adjust the CSS files. Right?

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working that easily for me. What step am I missing here?

Re: How to save edited template file?

I've got a different problem.

I followed the excellent instructionson how to save your X2-RC2 theme and convert it over, and followed it. Worked great.

Applied the theme in prefs. Worked great.

Went to the BLOCKS admin menu and tried to edit the WHO'S ON-LINE block. It kept trying to edit the default block. In fact, ALL of the systme blocks that I attempt to edit keep going to default instead of using the blocks with the theme I have applied.

Anyone else run into this?
