Sorry not to be in this tread - some people in Denmark enjoy the summer with high sun and blue sky
(Rune - are You in Denmark or Norway this weekend)

I really like the idea of demo-blocks - with or without flash elements.
I think that would be a great opportunity for new users!
The demoblocks can actually be used for "beginners first steps"

My idea was a welcomemesseage/module, where new users get introduced to XOOPS.
The message should be one for webmaster and another one for others.

<i>
Welcome to "sitename".
This site is just buildt up, so there are not mutch content so far
etc etc
</i>

if webmaster
<i>
Welcome "username".
This message is the first content at you site "sitename"
You can edit thes messages i systemadministratin -> blocks -> ect

Depending on your needs, XOOPS serves a lot of modules for content.
Default there is no modules included in XOOPS.
Modules can be found athttps://xoops.org/modules/repository/

You can also contact you local supportsite for help
https://xoops.org/modules/xoopspartners/
etc
</i>

The messages should be easy to change so the fit the local supportsites.
For example, I would make links to www.xoops.dk about module installation
Block handling, permissions, mailsettings etc.

These messages shoul only be viewed for danish uses.

OK.
Something can be written in ..\htdocs\install\language\xxx\install.php

Here can be some mere information for new users. Maybe just a link to the local supportsite and a page with beginneres first step

Agree. I think it's better they use 2.0.18.1 than 2.3

But modules?

Are you a member of the webmaster group at the site?

Go in to phpmyadmin for the site.
Run the SQL
<code>
SELECT `uid`,`uname` FROM `tabel_prefix_users` WHERE 1
</code>

Find You userlogon name and notice the UID
After that run the SQL
<code>
SELECT * FROM `tabel_prefix_groups_users_link` WHERE 1
</code>

Notice the GROUPID the UID is member of.

Now run this SQL
<code>
SELECT * FROM `tabel_prefix_groups` WHERE 1
</code>

Is the UID in a GROUPID, that are webmasters?
(You UID should be 1 You GROUPID should be 1 and GROUPID should be Webmasters)

Maybe this is offtopic, but i'm having some concerns.

Are You using any editor that permit the users to use Iframe's ?

My concerns is that a stupid user can use iframes to call the devastating from another site. The size on the iframe can be 0,0 so you can't se it's loading.

Get out of my head Runeher!!

I really like the idea of a Welcome-module in core.
The module has to show a Welcome-message for first-timers

I have seen the solution that ????? has implemented, but that is a new block in core.
If we make it as a module, first timers can actually try adding messages on the from page for the first time.

I also send a mail to Servage, they have a simular "1-click toolbox"
I want them to offer XOOPS as well

At Servage I have the following CMS's running
?????
PHPfusion
Typo3
Postnuke
E107
Joomla
Drupal

You have to know Your competitor to beat them
I don't know how many of your there know the term SWAT-analysis

Thats why I think it's important to know other CMS's.

Don't work either.
