I am currently working on a module called Profiles.
This will allow users to create an extended profile.

There are no plans yet to integrate it with XOOPS userinfo.

I was planning to allow the user to add the link to his extended profile from his sig.

This might not be what you need, but maybe it could work.

Still need to add the image upload part, but thats coming next, so i will make a release for Profiles with this.

I believe the xoopspoll module is only setup for one block at the moment.

Its only slow if you are doing something script intensive and receiveing ALOT of traffic at the same time (like most websites)

It is also HIGHLY dependant on your hosting service. and the way they configure their servers. It better be running linux if speed is an issue.

Alot of users would be like 150,000

200 is nothing when talking about web site load on the internet.

Have you ever built a custom XOOPS module?

There is alot of information on this site and others about how to create a XOOPS module.

The last message was just an example of the SQL you could include in your XOOPS module for your particular application of allowing users to search your property database through your web site.

SELECT name, image, city, area, type, price WHERE
location = '$city' AND area = $area AND type=$type AND bedrooms = $bedrooms AND ownership = $ownership AND (price >= $lowprice AND price <= highprice)

then display as you are now.

This could be different depending on exactly what you want to do and syntax may vary, but I hope this helps...

Very nice, sounds like a nice box for XOOPS and all the rest you plan to do... now can you send one to me? (bad joke)

I have a 3.2 Ghs Single Box that I recently installed Apace, MySQL, PHP and XOOPS onto... It runs great and I really love how fast XOOPS runs on it, locally, without any netlag.

Now if the interenet goes down, i still have a way to develop XOOPS related stuff and its nice and smooth and fast.

The nice thing about Linux is you can install it ONTOP of Windows and run both.

Then you could have a LAMP & WAMP box at the same time.

SuSe is nice. I like it. Its what I use for my local servers.

I also use Debiam on my hosting service and seems very good.

But yeah, you dont have to lost Windows to install linux, just create a dual boot [W|L]AMP box ;)

do you need my address to send another box too? hehe

why couldnt you get a subdomain like:

xtf.xoops.org or maybe themes.xoops.org or themesforge.xoops.org

for this project? It could be similar to SF style hosting or you could even host it on ANY server, anywhere by editing the DNS.

obviously, xoops.org would need to approve this, and would be great not to have to pay for a domain name for this xoops-centric project....also, xoops.org is already paid for, so its just a matter of getting it approved.

Just an idea.

You can find that right after the DreamModule that automatically builds the module you want based on a few questions. (ok, call me a smartass)

No but really, I havent seen any module that could do that yet, and it most likely doesnt exist yet. It is a good idea though for companies running on XOOPS to provide this to their people.

You might be able to use a Form Generator module like Liase
or some of the others to generate a custom forms, see here:https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=372

but they might not be able to add the approve/notification functionality you would need to make this module match your needs.

Good Idea, hope you can find a solution.

When can we have the XTF up and running?

I would love to submit a theme and take subthemes for it that people can download a MegaTheme.

Plus, there is a language issue... NewBB uses words in its grfx buttons, so XOOPS Theme Forge would be a good place to get alternate subthemes for newBB for other languages possibly too..

sure not all can be available, that is alot of work...
but as you mentioned, over time, there could be alot of choices and MegaThemes built and available on XOOPS Theme Forge.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Cheers,

_Dan

When a theme is created for a particular site, it is a good thing to create elements for the modules to fit your site as well.

Although, when a XOOPS theme is released for public, i dont feel it is a good idea include too much like newBB icons or other module specific items.

Unless, the theme is meant to be for forum sites, then how would you know what modules to create subthemes for?

What do you think?
