I am not sure, but you can try:
* maybe, if script is in <body> but not <head> , it will not be taken away.
* otherwise just try iframe (but this way You don't prune the XOOPS css to your page )
* or maybe a html-block would do. Admin:System->Blocks

more diagrams in your article would be a bonus :).
last summer I wrote an CMS overview article to local PC magazine.
would be glad, if some ideas can help:
though you don't understand Lithuanian, its easy to grasp the diagrams . (I could mail You the source of my 2-nd diagram in vector graphics if you like :). )
and, imho some stats about CMS dev (sf.net) and popularity (google PageRank) is quite a good general criteria.

anyway, good piece of work You've done.

Hi, I kept an eye onhttp://siteframe.org/ for some time, and now I installed it - looks nice - quite simple, and capable of building communities .
XOOPS is also famous for its community help, but it lacks ability to share stuff (sth, like adwanced Uploads/Downloads mod)
Anybody else tried SiteFrame?
I think it would be nice to integrate it similary as Moodle4Xoops at first, or just synchronize profiles.
Now they are reconstructing it to be simpler - and based on categories or sohttp://lagrange.siteframe.org . LaGrange code base is still shaping up, so it would be good time for devs to show some initiative to take/share some ideas
anyway, have anice day

http://www.bitfolge.de/snif-en.html - snif = simple and nice index file

I also needed some similar functionality
so I made up some my own script (included some code from snif and Php_Easy_Download)
U can
download it from here
http://dz0.tinkle.lt/listing/index.php?start_dir=downloads
(diferent methods - direct and anti-leecing)
adn see it's power right here
http://dz0.tinkle.lt/listing
(well, interface is in my native lang, though I put explanations in en in config file)

For anti-leeching You can just use
download_attachment($file) from download.php

because when installing You set it to be owned by wwwdata or similar ..
so a solution would be to write some php script for deleting the dirs and run it via browser (as wwwdata user) ;)

i suggest using wiki, and I think ppl would spend 10times less time while trying to choose the appropriate mod.
http://wiki.xoops.org/wakka.php?wakka=XoopsUnofficialModules

some months ago there was
- content module comparison thread
- and best modules proposed by Shivay (sorry if misspelled)

and now search didn't show those links

so let's get into habit to keep important and longlasting issues in wiki !
