Cbb 3.08

Thanks script_fu, I've co-installed Newbb and I'm trialling it with the ladies who frequent our new site. I'm surprised by the increased features, security and flxibility it provides. Only God knows why I wanted to install NewbbEx in the first place! :)

Thanks for replying so quickly guys!

Thanks Stefan88, yes that's the module.

There are no permission settings that I can find for this module. The only options that are presented to the admin are:

Add a Forum
Edit a Forum
Set
Private Forum Permissions
Sync forum
/topic index
Add a Category
Edit a Category Title
Remove a Category
Re
-Order Categories
Preferences
--+
             |--
Show private titles and forums?
             |--
Enable Notification

+--Enable Specific Events

If there are other options/permissions for Newbbex they're well hidden. I'd be asking this question on the Newbbex forums but my account application is still being processed.

Can any of you XOOPS gurus recommend another forum module that DOES let us set edit/delete permissions? (and will import our existing forum data?)

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi everyone,

I've got a problem with NewBBex (Forumex). I'm looking for a way to prevent users from editing or deleting their posts. Does anyone know how I can configure this or is there a clever person that can suggest a hack please?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as our newly created community website is growing bigger and faster than we anticipated. Thanks!

Xoops v2.0.16
NewBBex (Forumex) v1.4

Sure thing matey,

Edit file: \modules\newbbex\templates\newbbex_thread.html

At line 10, change:

<td class="odd"><div class="comUserRank"><div class="comUserRankText"><{$topic_post.poster_rank_title}></div><{$topic_post.poster_rank_image}></div><img class="comUserImg" src="<{$xoops_upload_url}>/<{$topic_post.poster_avatar}>" border="0" alt="" /><div class="comUserStat"><span class="comUserStatCaption"><{$lang_joined}>:</span> <{$topic_post.poster_regdate}></div><div class="comUserStat"><span class="comUserStatCaption"><{$lang_from}>:</span> <{$topic_post.poster_from}></div><div class="comUserStat"><span class="comUserStatCaption"><{$lang_posts}>:</span> <{$topic_post.poster_postnum}></div><div class="comUserStatus"><{$topic_post.poster_status}></div></td>

...to read:

<td class="odd"><div class="comUserRank"><div class="comUserRankText"><{$topic_post.poster_rank_title}></div><{$topic_post.poster_rank_image}></div><img class="comUserImg" src="<{$xoops_upload_url}>/<{$topic_post.poster_avatar}>" border="0" alt="" /><div class="comUserStat"><span class="comUserStatCaption"><{$lang_joined}>:</span> <{$topic_post.poster_regdate}></div><div class="comUserStat"><span class="comUserStatCaption"><{$lang_from}>:</span> <{$topic_post.poster_from}></div><div class="comUserStat"><span class="comUserStatCaption"><{$lang_posts}>:</span> <{$topic_post.poster_postnum}></div>
          <
div class="comUserStatus"><a href="/modules/yogurt/index.php?uid=<{$topic_post.poster_uid}>">View User's ALBUM</a></div>
          <div class="comUserStatus"><{$topic_post.poster_status}></div></td>

Pretty simple really. Just don't forget to delete everything in /templates_c before you test it. Hehehe...

You legend! Worked like a charm. I was editing the right file and even had the syntax correct but it was never going to show without your help.

Thank you very much!

Hi everyone,

I hope this is the right area for this post. If not, please excuse my ignorance.

I'm using XOOPS with ForumEx (newbbex) v1.4 and Yogurt Album v1.0. All I want to do is add a link to every user's forum post so that a link to their Yogurt album appears under their avatar/location details. I've tried editing templates within ForumEx but nothing I do seems to affect any changes (let alone create a working link). :)

I understand that all I need is the UID variable in a hyperlink to create a link to each user's album... but which file do I need to edit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
-Richard

G'day mate,

I'm only a new user here m'self so I'm not sure how helpful I'm going to be. As of a few weeks ago I had been out of the game for a while so I went looking to compare a bunch of CMS's and found this excellent site that lists all the features of (probably TOO many) systems:

www.cmsmatrix.org

Hope this helps - I know it helped me. And here I am.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with XOOPS!

Well, it took a little longer than I anticipated but the site is finally live. I used the terrific "morphogenesis" theme as a basis. I barely touched the templates and I only scratched the surface of the theme itself. But as this is my first deployment of a Xoops-driven site I didn't want to break it before I got a chance to see what it was capable of doing.

I'm very happy with the way it works and the performance of XOOPS is pretty good. The administrator of the site is on a steep learning curve but I reckon she's learning faster than any other client I've had using PHPNuke/PostNuke.

Here's the URL: MyChildWorkShop

Hope you like it. Any/all feedback greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi all,

I'm new to XOOPS and having a great time learning how to modify it. I've been a developer/designer for quite a few years and have used PHPNuke and PostNuke in the past. However, I have the chance to put in place an entirely different sort of site than the ones I am used to designing so I thought this would be an excellent opportunity to try out Xoops. :)

Other than not being able to get into dev.xoops.org, I'm enjoying the ease of Xoops. Until the dev site comes back up I'm sitting here working on the design in the small time-frame allowed to deploy this site. The admin interface is very cool and my client (my wife) shouldn't have to nag me too often for help.

Anyway, that's me. Just thought I'd say Hi. If you're interested to see my other work then you can click on my website URL. Thanks for reading!

Warm regards,
Richard Strickleton
