Yes I have seen and looks REALLY good, hopefuly I can now get this site up and running quickly now, I had a minor hickup...

http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/forum/forum.php?thread_id=2484&forum_id=1330

But I finially walked myself through it.... and posted my notes so that anyone else with the problem of a blank screen can be assisted by my hours of hair pulling and cursing.. :) well not really, as I have very little hair left from my other ventures.. and cursing.. well I am polite.. :)

skenow, one word... MARVELOUS!

I don't think it is exactly what I wanted but from the docs it looks like it will be useable and suitable for the project, saves me many further hours of looking to HACK the DB..... :)

Thanks,

I often wondered where people remember these thing... absolutely amazing....

I was thinking, even if I customised a template so that it goes to 2 different static(non dynamic) rego form pages, just to post the data to the data base, would that do the trick ?

I got a similar issue. I got a friend who I am trying to help out, he wants two different logins for two different types of users to the same site... A breakdown:

1) User group A can be normal rego form
2) User Group B should be entering more information on the rego form.
3) Usergroup B needs to be flagged as a differnt user group once they try and log in.

Basically it will be like one login for advertisers the other for end users. or if you like imagine sport site for two types or teams, and of course you just want to automatically register them as one side....
any ideas?

OK, I think I may have got my head around it (even without the English version. Rereading Alfreds PMs to me I think I have an idea (I don't think I tried this yet) but you create site1, tell site1 to create a database for site2 then tell site2 to look at the prefix for site2 in site1's database.... from memory of looking at the database structures and changes this may be it! :) Anyone else tried yet? anyone else got it working?

Anyway I think it is starting to make sense now.

Will try as soon as I can.. chat you all later.

Ok, fantastic (which in english means VERY GOOD)..
So please let me know as I have really struggled with translations.. :( even in highschool, I was in the ESL class... (English second Language) go figure... maybe I was just lazy

Also is it worth trying the hack on 2.0.13.2 Xoops?

Once again thanks for your time and effort.

Well from what I can see it appears to be an issue with 2.2.x with latest version, have yet to see any other replies so I am switching my xosc to 2.0.13 again as it seems to work, I also had issues with Kshop, when you place an order and try and complete the purchase
we have a saying which comes from a TV commercial....

Not Happy Jan!

but then again, you would have to see the commercial to really get a belly ache from laughing.

Basically what I was trying to o is similar to your suggestion with xoops.org and dev sites, also yeh, I dont wanna hack the DB as you are really asking for trouble, especially if your knowledge is limited. And still not word from Alfred :(

I too Agree!!!!!

Can someone please help with this again, it is possible!!
You can tell XOOPS as we are using variable and these can be redirected (as I am seeing and learning).

So why can't we make extra XOOPS files, the original members files>>>
Redirects its members file to a second members file>>>
This contains a new server location and says get Members from this server>>>
It would only take altering the config in the redirection file>>>
For each of us…
If introduced to core, admin controls in preferences..
Please tell me if there is anything disallowing this?
<SNIP>---<SNIP>---<SNIP>---<SNIP>---<SNIP>---

kinda what I was trying to do, ie keep two domains with different content yet still have common interests for people, the only request I have is the customers logging in as registered users be allowed to access the 2 (or more) sites with just a single username and password (not necessarily auto login to new site, just so they dont have to sign up for each site and confirm the account having several usernames and passwords for several sites).

I was reading in one forum list as someone referring to it as a similar concept to the MS Passport idea, for example in Australia we have www.ninemsn.com.au (aka msn.com.au) and if you sign in with that you are using the same username and password as your HOTMAIL account, (they take it one step further though which I am not interesting in atm) so you can log into ebay.com.au with same credentials (I think they may have stopped the affiliation, not sure but that is symantecs) People already have TOO many usernames and paswords they dont want to have more than they need.

An clear example would be if someone setup a webring of sites, different admins (to keep it simple we will say the same server, and if need be database but the database should not matter from what I read) a user goes from one site to the next, not having to re-register upteenth number of times, just login.

Please I beg for this to be added to the core for security and not be a hack...

I second the above!

So any one hearing me on us establishing a multisite members within Xoops???

Do any other CMS's do this or would we be first?

Yes, I dont have much experience but I believe Mambo does, however I have heard os some limitations.

For the moment I may pop this on the back burner... still gonna run simple XOOPS and play from time to time but just taking too much time at the moment, got a few other tasks getting the sites back up to scratch....

Anyway any one else looking at helping here, please leave a message or pm me, i check from time to time and also will be notified of a new message.

I can kinda see what it is doing as it is generating a new database when I create a new site under the multi-site module, yet I still cannot see it sharing the data for the userbase, I may be a little tired at the moment, maybe even thinking things a little too simplistic but what if there was just a simple hack to direct all authentication to a particular table in a particular database? (I would imagine it would be easy enough to simply hack a hardcoded hack as it is generating the session key/cookie from authenticating against a database, why not just point it to the different table (or different table and database if it is not in the same database)? It might save me many sleepless nights trying to translate German.

Also does anyone else have the SimpleXoops installed and running? I have not seen a site and I am getting worried that it may not work in the end?

Anyway My posts will be less frequent till I either get a little help (as I have hit the wall at the moment) or if Alfred gets back to me with some insight.

Sorry, I am not so good with this but it may help if you noted which version of XOOPS you are running etc as there are some things different and some modules work better (or not at all with others).

I have installed the module and starting to set up so I may be able to help in a while just not up to speed on it.
