Read closer, my friend...

<{$xoops_url}> is the root directory of your XOOPS installation. So, if you wanted to point the new link to http://www.yoursite.com/personal/newpage.html, all you would need to do (sorry for reposting the example) is (note the red and bold):

// This code you will find there ALREADY

<table cellspacing="0">
<
tr>
<
td id="mainmenu">
<
class="menuTop" href="<{$xoops_url}>/"><{$block.lang_home}>a>

<{foreach
item=module from=$block.modules}>
<
class="menuMain" href="<{$xoops_url}>/modules/<{$module.directory}>/"><{$module.name}>a> <{foreach item=sublink from=$module.sublinks}>
<
class="menuSub" href="<{$sublink.url}>"><{$sublink.name}>a>
<{/foreach}>
<{/foreach}>

// This code you MUST add YOURSELF

[b][color=FF0000]<class="menuMain" href="<{$xoops_url}>/personal/newpage.html">LinkNameHerea>[/color][/b]

// This code comes AFTER the ENTIRE menu once you get
// it set up however you want it

tdtr>
table>

If you still have questions, feel free to ask, but mind the caps, please. Asking rudely won't get you an answer any faster.

I am almost surprised that no one has made a 'hack' like the one you mention, Jamescne. Even two simple drop boxes, one containing the twelve months and the other containing the years covered throughout the articles, would be helpful now that you mention it. Although, doing this shouldn't be too tough with the assistance of a submit button...

Each value of those dropboxes would be fairly simple since the output is:
http://www.DOMAIN.com/modules/news/archive.php?year=<4 DIGIT YEAR>&month=

Couple that simple idea with a submit button to generate the link and go to it...

If you would like a hand, let me know...

It would be cool to have a module module available to the community though, XooperMod is only usable on worldware.com.

:)

Never knew a thing like (the link posted) existed...lol. But, even so, yes, I would also like to see something like that MADE into a module so that what you get is essentially a Module Module...

I would also like the devs, if they read this (hopes), to send me a tell if they would like to help me (more like if THEY would like help) creating something like this. Not only would this get a few more people 'into' xoops, but then the need for the 'Module Requests' forum would be no more...haha.

Thank you for the link! I will see what I come up with!

I am starting a project (I guess you could call it a project). I will be focusing my attention to the creation of a blank module. 'But what the HECK is a blank module?!?!" you might ask? It would be, what I consider, a module template that even the noobiest of xoopsters could download and modify to suit whatever they would like to add to their site. Basically, this would be a template. All php files would be heavily annotated so that anyone who looked at them would know EXACTLY what each finction did.

Or, if anyone would like to tag in and help me create the Module Creation Module, all help would be welcome. The idea in this is that (like I said before) even the noobiest of xoopsters could create a module based on whatever they would like. They would even be able to set up their own SQL tables. Implimenting your own html/php files using MyPage or something of the like would be a thing of the past. With this module, you would be able to do just that and more if you so please.

The reason I am thinking about this is because I have spent the greater part of 3 years collecting Java-based games. Instead of creating a stupid html or php 'page' containing links out the whazoo to each game that when clicked on would force you to leave the style of xoops, I intend to use either of these ideas to create a module that would allow me to create my own sub-menus/links/content. All within Xoops! Call it a PHP generating module or what have you, but this is my idea.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Just did a search for 'birthday' and I came up with nothing in the Mod Rep...which is why I translated (what I shoulda said) this French module for use on English sites in the first place.

Converting a Block to a Module?

I have made many custom blocks for my site that I think many other users would like to use and/or modify to suit there own needs. Is there an easy way to make a module out of a custom block? It's probably really easy, but after staring at the forums for about 2 hours my brain wants to stop altogether...

If anyone is interested in seeing what I have done thus far, feel free to PM me.

Also forgot to mention that if you would like to keep the nice 'square' look of that certain template you are using, it would be best to edit the index.html of your theme and stick the valign="top" code frag into the XOOPS code... I was getting SO frustrated when I couldn't figure out why the heck my site was looking a tad off-balance when I would use right-center and left-center blocks...lol.

I have translated a French XOOPS module (I randomly came across it while browsing the web) that gives this function. It gives you (the Admin) the ability to add a block to your page that shows the birthdays of users FOR THAT SPECIFIC DAY and also shows a link to send them a PM. I haven't really tested it FULLY, but I was able to set my birthday as the current date and it showed up in the block. Now, another function os this module is that the user is AUTOMATICALLY sent an email from your site basically saying 'Happy Birthday' but this remains unconfirmed as of yet. All I know is that I didn't get an email when I set my bday as the current date, however this means nothing since midnight didn't roll around after I set it.

It also adds another link under the 'User Menu' as 'My Birthday' witch takes you to a simple page to set your birthdate. This info is then stored to the DB.

If you would like it I can rar it up for you and attach...

Let me know!

The 'Who's Online' block of XOOPS is (in my opinion) the thing webmasters care about when it come to visiting a site. The only problem is, I like to monitor my site 24/7 to see who all visits and when. I was GOING to make a simple html file that would refresh the 'Who's Online' of my site every minute or so and then set that html file as the background of my Windows desktop...

The problem is this...since that block is created from a simple template (that no ordinary html file can parse), if I point an iframe to /modules/system/templates/blocks/system_block_online.html, I won't get what I want. I will, however, get the XOOPS code on a white background that means absolutely nothing to me.

Could someone make a simple module or even just a php file that I can reference in an iframe that will show the 'Who's Online' block for me, please?

I am, admittedly, code stupid. Otherwise, I would just do it myself. A lot of my friends that are using XOOPS like this idea as well, so I figured I'd ask. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your support in this idea!

I would start working on this myself, but due to lack of knowledge and time...HA!...not possible.

I have already uploaded all the files to my server...geez...but holy HELL! The repetition involved in adding all those files (especially when they are sorted into multiple categories AND sub-categories) is enough to lull even the most adept XOOPSter into a coma.

Even if I were adding the files in the admin area, wouldn't you think that it would be more convenient to reload the 'Add Download' page again as opposed to the module's start page?

I mean, I am a big freak when it comes to ease of use, and when adding downloads even 3 extra clicks is KILLING me. Not to mention the fact that this equates to 3 clicks times HUNDREDS of files...totalling (since I will EVENTUALLY be hosting 513 files) 1539 extra clicks. Couple that with load time...oh my...

- On a side note, I find that I must revert back to the standard admin section from Admin Revisited (Not looking to pretty on 2.0.13 nor does it load properly).
