Thanks for the input, wtravel. Much appreciated.

The site is using this module for the directory and draws data directly from it. It is possible to cache it, but I wouldn't recommend doing it. I had one site that wound up having over 60,000 cache files added.

I'll see what I can do to make things look less busy on the homepage; still tinkering around with that. I want to get some more content in, then sit back and see what else needs fixin'.

Thanks again,

gestroud

I've been working on this site off and on in my free time and think I'd like to get it launched in a fortnight or so.

So........., I'm wondering if someone could take a look under the hood, kick the tires, etc., etc.

There are some test articles already posted, and I'm still categorizing the message board, making some changes on the header logo, finishing the World Facts section and a few other things, but I'm at a point where I can't see any mistakes or omissions I may have made.

The big questions are:

Does the site render well on a large screen?

The Travel Directory seems kind of sluggish to me. Do visitors experience the same problem?

Does the Travel Video section work for visitors?

Do the Travel Tools work?

Does the Travel Shop look all right?

Any and all bits of constructive criticism are welcome.

Also, if anyone runs a travel-related site, feel free to add it to the Links/Partners section.

Super Travel Tips.com

Thanks,

You may need to make sure that you fill out the "Headline Order" option for each feed, or nothing will show up in Simple Headline.

I don't think that that feature is fully active yet in the module. What the developer is doing with the current and previous versions is setting up the module now with all of the features (functional or not) that will be in the module by the final version.

A new version of the module is available 0.51. I haven't tested it yet.

There are two simple headline references in RSS Center. One is the link that shows up in the submenu and the individual pages. If you click it, you'll be able to read the feeds by source. Clicking the link will also auto update all of the feeds.

The other simple headline feature is two blocks associated with the module. They appear to be kind of redundant since both display the same headlines viewable in the Latest RSS Feed block. You can see a sample of all of the RSS Center blocks in action here:

While I'm disappointed by the petulant tone of the previous posts (particularly from someone who posted an extensive "I Quit" post on the heels of posting a "30 themes in 30 days" post), I certainly respect and applaud your loyalty and dedication. There does come a time, however, when one may want to ask oneself if he or she wants to be viewed as the Edward John Smith of the CMS world.

Peace,

You might also want to look into WordPress. It's becoming a very sophisticated blog/CMS platform. I've already moved at least 40 XOOPS sites to it. Someone provided a handy guide to moving news articles to it:

Still running a few XOOPS sites, but it's becoming fewer and fewer and fewer...

I could be wrong, but I think that trspice may not be asking about editing the default theme. I have a feeling that the question has more to do with editing module templates.

Quote:
I tried to edit the template files for modules using the admin 'Template Edit' but there is no submit button.

I've always wondered the same thing about that feature, as well as the template editor that you can view when we work with blocks.

Just curious. Has anyone had any success with Zina for xoops?

http://www.pancake.org/zina

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82527

It doesn't work too well with the 2.2 XOOPS branch, but I have a feeling that it might work with 2.0.16

Good luck with this one. I tried getting help from Jinzora, but they were useless. You'll find their xoops-related questions here:
http://www.jinzora.com/forums/search.php?mode=results just type in "xoops" as your search query.

This might be helpful, too.
