Thx for this explanation DJ!

I also agree with Mamba and jayjay: timely communication is important.

I think we should NOT go for private disputes between Council, Foundation and Teams. When everyone would have had all information things wouldn't have to escalate as they have done lately, which made indeed a kind of unprofessional impression.
Community and the good name of XOOPS suffered from this I'm afraid.

Perhaps a task for communication team?

Thanks for your answer Macmend!

It's obvious you know a lot more about security than I do.
Is, to your opinion, a XOOPS site with Protector module and all "lights green", safe (or as safe as can be) from hackers?

I recently installed Protector on my 2 sites and "re-organised" the folder structure in order to get "all green".

I'm living in the assumption that I'm reasonably safe now, although I do backup local every 2 weeks (and check if it works...).

Cheers,

@macmend: may I ask why you want "no php flags in htaccess"?

I guess you're right Dave_L, but isn't this something module developers should include in the update procedure:

1) instructions to delete certain/all files
2) a delete schript in the update procedure (if possible at all...)

But sure something I'll try to remember.

Cheers,

I tried your suggestion Madfish.
However: new registrations still have the default notification method PM...

Still I think your suggestion is good; I have my own notifications by email and the value in the table is 2 in my case.

So, what could be the issue here?
I updated the system module to be sure, but that didn't make a difference. Anything I forgot?

Thanks in advance and grtz,

Thx Madfish,

I have a local backup to experiment with, so I'll try it out!

Hai folks,

Is there a way to change the default notification method from PM to email, in a way that goes automatically, i.e. that email IS the default and people have to change manually to PM if they wish?

Thx in advance and grtz,

If I read the doc, that should not be a problem. Just uninstall and delete, and upload the new version.

But I'm no expert
(see above.... )

Grtz,
