xcgal edit images problem

I have a problem with getting the edit images screen to come up on some of my albums. These appear to be albums with more than 16 photos in them - eg one has 25.

I have tried deleting and reuploading several times but this obviously isn;t the answer. Is it a problem with downloading so much info for editing? Is there a limit to how namy images should be in one album? Can anyone suggest a way to access these images without deleting the album and starting over? I really don't want to go through it all again - my user pics file is getting really messy as each time I delete an album i don't always gain access to the pic to try again. Thanks

Re: no browse on downloads module!

I can't help with the module problem...but I suggest you use an ftp program to upload the files you want to your downloads module. The trick will be finding the right folder to put them into. If you have a lot of files to upload an ftp program will make short work of them - you won't be doing them one at a time as you would with a single file upload feature in the module.

Help needed with text input

Well it's not working in my obs classroom or tutorials modules.

Any ideas on why or how? What can i do to fix it?

Is Spaw editor (on for WF sections) interfering?

I really would like to be able to input more than plain text...have asked the question heretoo - I will post the answers i get from either direction.

Cheers

can someone explain an xcgal warning message pls

Hi

I am batch uploading files and come across this error message where the 'OK' or other result buttons should be

Warning [PHP]: fread(): Length parameter must be greater than 0. in file modules/xcgal/addpic.php line 67<br>

Can someone please explain what this means? Thanks

Re: ummm...newbies please don't make this mistake

Please note: File name changes are easier with your FTP program than with C Panel - much faster!

ummm...newbies please don't make this mistake

omg! where are all my photos

I was wondering this when I had some trouble editing pics in xcgallery...I FTP'd a heap of files and was struggling with editing them - they weren't showing and some batch uploads failed...and then

the lights came on

Now you experts are not allowed to laugh or give me a hard time - you must respect my L plates and remember I am a front end user not a programmer....

dear newbies of my kind

You must have no special characters in your file names

Now for us this is something totally new. We have been working with windows programs which allow us to create files like
jen's headache.doc
and
jen's break.jpg
and
jen's favourite pic.gif

HOWEVER

(DON'T LAUGH)

these files can't be read.
The above file names need to be change to
jensheadache.doc
jensbreak.jpg
jens_favourite_pic.gif

It's easy to do online in CPanel with your file manager...click on the file, select rename, type in the name with the correct file extension
or delete the offending files, rename them on your hard drive copy and upload them all over.

Question: Is it necessary to have no gaps in file names?

If anyone knows of a quick and easy way to convert file names to no gaps names - please tell me. I am about to spend an hour or more renaming files and folders!

Newbies - note the word folders...it goes for them too!
eg
jen's pics folder needs to become jenspics folder.

Hope this helps some other poor soul!

Cheers

If you are using cpanel you can check to see which one is installed by going to the left side menu and clicking on "installed perl scripts".

So when do we see this site!

Thank you so much for your answer...I have installed and am trying xcgal since I had probs with my album and no-one could answer my question. I must admit I think I am going to love it...I had to stop playing with it last night tho as my kids wanted a turm on the net....

When will you see this site? Soon I guess...once i have at least 1 each of the module content - tips and tricks, a classroom, dictionary entries, a tutorial, and the album. Hopefully in the next week or 2. Content is on my hard drive - just need to get it all in the right place. Am also waiting the release of the new BB.

Cheers

Can someone explain these GD 2, ImageMagick and Netpbm

I have been looking into image album blocks after having some difficulties with My Album. There is a refence to "GD" which I don't fully understand so I searched this term.
1. I gather GD is a program that creates thumbs from photo's for us - but I have no idea how to identify if it or Imagemagic or Netpbm are installed - I know I haven't done it...How can I find out?

2. It appears from discussions that the latter may be better than GD2. Is this true?

TIA...a tad bewildered!
