I don't think it's a good idea to force theme developers to follow this: many old themes will be trashed, as well as some new ones, and most theme designers would have to update their themes to the W3C validation - which can take ages - and this would stop new themes.

I do care about W3C validation - my new website which I'm making at the moment is fully passes the validation on every page (http://www.vampiretrix.com/index.html ,http://www.vampiretrix.com/xoops.html,http://www.vampiretrix.com/ie6.html are already on, all of these pass the test).
I've put time into making it fully validate, I even used other YouTube tags...

I haven't done this ever and I can't (no mod_rewrite) but you should be able to do this with fancy urls, probably there is a lot of information around here, just go and search... this might be hard though!

Many information has already been given, please use the search button ;)

It's still in progress though, so things could change!

One of the first things we need to do is make sure the site itself becomes a bit less chaotic - less different places for the same things: now you can find themes at 3 places: the Themes (old), the Themes Gallery (beta), the news...
I suggest we merge the Themes in 1 place and this would really make it easier for new users: this does not mean this has to happen immediately, but this has to happen: sometimes I find it quite confusing to find something here. The same about the modules: the Repository isn't really being used anymore for more recent modules, so why keep it around? I suggest that also that would merge at 1 place, so we can put an easy link(or button) to it on the main page with MODULES and THEMES on it, which will make it for many users easier..
In order to make XOOPS more popular, we have to make this site a bit easier :)

Now, what modules do you suggest I would run on the site? Everybody can say whatever they think is best!
And we would need a theme too, I'll try to make one soon, but if anyone wants to make another one, he can do this too.

We will also need a logo - anything that's creative and colorful will do.. anybody has any ideas?

This site is going to be made by the community, not only by me, that's my goal: making a community driven site, a place where anybody can talk about XOOPS and find easy information, while this site will be for the more advanced users (this site really is hard for new users to understand at first, even I have to search a long while before I find some things, and when you've found it, you might have scared quite a few users ;) )

Webinstall and reCaptcha

Well I've asked for reCaptcha before, but probably at the wrong place. The Captcha in the XOOPS core is too easy and can be worked around in a few secs. It would be alot better to support reCaptcha and let it be activated in a few seconds, by just entering your API-key in the System Module => Captcha or something, so your site will be protected many times better.

The Webinstall: this should be 1 file which downloads all of XOOPS files on the webserver and which installs more easily for new users as they don't have to worry as much about uploading files, much like the SMF webinstall (fully below this page:http://www.simplemachines.org/download/). In this way we might also be able to download packages like modules and themes easier. This is a lot of work, I know that, but this isn't something impossible: it's something that makes SMF good, and if XOOPS uses a simular system it would become a WHOLE lot easier and therefore better. (the current way should stay though)

I hope somebody agrees with my ideas ^^

The pleasure is mine Mamba :)
I'm thinking more of a project like SpreadFirefox - which is seperate of the project itself.
The site shouldn't contain too much technical information at the beginning but just help out beginning users and more advanced users by providing tutorials at this site and provide information about general stuff.

About the server, I've ordered a hosting package for spreadfirefox.com already :)

I speak Dutch, I'm from Belgium. I can help with Dutch and English (my French ain't that good but I can help myself a bit).

I can try to spread the word and I try to spread the word about XOOPS as much as I can, nearly all my sites run XOOPS already, and I plan to advertise a bit more about XOOPS. I also try to help anyone that asks questions about XOOPS. And ofcourse I'll try to do more :)

I'll help by making new themes (but I'm very bad in PHP at the moment, so modules won't be released yet). I can offer hosting for this project too for free, and I would love to maintain the site. I hope I can help :) - I've ordered spreadxoops.com and spreadxoops.org and I'll maintain it, but I would want to make this something of the community, and therefore I would want to hear anyone's suggestions! :)

I think we need something else then just a rip from the banner; it should be a bit more original and show XOOPS admin panels in use, and show how flexible XOOPS is, and that purplish background is nice but the trailer you've made Mamba almost has nothing to do, it doesn't show anything about XOOPS except a rip of the banner... I've done this too, and now i'm working on the next trailer of DayDawn Online, which will be quite different and contain in-game stuff :)
