Are these not the folders that are already in the htdocs folder of the 2.3.1 package?

So when the contents of the htdocs folder are uploaded under instruction #1, the "create" part of instruction #4 is already done.

Or am I missing something?

Didn't seem a bit off at all to me.

In my real work I'm competent and deal with "peers" all the time who can't RTFM. I get it.

ghia has a point I suppose if that were possible. (not him having a point, but XOOPS doing it)

For users at my level (know just enough to be dangerous and annoying) the steps you refer to could be fleshed out a little.

For example where it says create and make the directories...writable, there is no need to create the directories. They should be there already so I was a bit stumped by the instruction to create them.

A separate set of checksum files for upgrades might also help.

The posting about starting a new XOOPS site by skenow is great but is out of date.

A search in the wiki for 2.3.1 currently reveals nothing.

Perhaps the 2.3.1 forum needs a topic at the top outlining the 5 basic steps to troubleshoot problems? Don't post until you have done these 5 things...

The XOOPS 2.3 Installation Notes I just noticed are great. Unfortunately they came a little late in the whole 2.3.1 release process and miss instructions on the use of the checksum files which as I now understand them can go a long way to getting things working.

A similar document on upgrading might help.

I'm not ranting by the way. Just offering some ideas to help keep the 2.3.1 forum cleaner than the rest of the forums.

Hey, on behalf of the new, inexperienced , overconfident, lazy, uneducated (XOOPS education that is) and all other XOOPS users who ask ill-informed and sometimes largely un-researched questions on occasion in these forums... myself included.

Thanks for the patient replies.

Your time and efforts are appreciated.

You know who you are and you know who we are.

By the way, where exactly is the FM?

I re-uploaded the files and now have a working module.

If you provide a little more information, you are more likely to get some help from an expert.
What were you upgrading from?
What versions of MySQL etc are you using?
What modules do you have installed?
Did any errors come up during the upgrade process?
What have you tried already to solve the problem?

Did the checksum files reveal any missing files other than those that should be missing in an upgrade such as the install ones and if so, did you replace them?

Answers to these questions will help others help you. No doubt I've missed something that someone else will chip in.

Good luck.

What I was finding was a blank page for popular and top rated. Now I am getting the following error when I try to access one of the links:

Error:
Class wflAgeHandler does not exist.
Handler Name: age

Thanks!

I gave the Anonymous Users Group access to the Profile Module and the issue seems to be gone.

Where can I get d3downloads(0.9) since WF-Downloads is not working with 2.3.1?

A little more searching on this "issue" reveals this information. Not news to developers, but news to me.

Thanks,

Logging in from the front page is not a problem if you do it right. The loop can be escaped with the back button without a problem and login remains possible from there.

I'm wondering if I have a corrupt redirect file somewhere but don't know where to look or what to replace.
