PiCal & Category Permissions

Hi everyone,

I searched 20 minutes for this, but couldn't find an answer...

In PiCal (v 0.6) is there a way I can give a group access to a specific category without giving them the ability to post an event to it? I understand I can adjust the setting in the global permissions, however, I want them to be able to post events in every other category but one.

For example, I want to give a group the ability to view and post events to some categories (birthdays, meetings, out of office, etc) but only be able to view events in one category (the training calendar).

From the looks of things in the global permissions and category permissions, you can't tease out permissions by category... if a group is allowed access to a category, and has global permission to post, then they are allowed to post events to all categories they have access to.

Do I have this right, or is there a way to work around this?

Thanks in advance,

Kristine

Interesting....

And if you go into the News 1.2.1 admin menu there is definately no item called "Submit/Approve Permissions" ?

Yes there is Brash...

Maybe this module doesn't do what I think it does?

I thought that when a user submitted a news item, they would be able to set permissions as to which groups would be able to see the item. (Like PiCal).

Do I have this wrong?

Thanks for responding,

Kristine

Hi Kristine,

After uploading the News 1.2.1 module over your old News 1.1 module, did you goto the System Admin -> Modules menu and update the News module?

Yup, I did... in fact, I've updated it a couple of times (hoping that it would change).

Thanks,

Kristine

news 1.21 and group perm

Sorry in advance for asking such a stupid question...(I promise I searched first!)

I downloaded news 1.21 awhile ago and it finally dawned on me (after not seeing the group permissions everyone's talking about) that I perhaps need to d/l and install the groupperm.zip folder that's listed on dev.xoops.org.

I've looked through the folder for a "how to"... do I just overwrite the folders in the module?

(I think there should be a forum for people like me one step below the beginner's corner for the xoops challenged )

Thanks in advance,

Kristine (who's a bit slow on the uptake sometimes)

Re: My Fox-Hunting Poll is being Acccued of Being Rigged

Hi Ted,

Dunno about the browser setting question... but I was able to go and vote.

(The results of the poll so far are fascinating btw).

Take care,

Kristine

Re:xHelp: Fatal error: Call to a member function

Thank you Ackbarr...

I replaced the code snippet on line 119 and also on line 312, (because it's the same piece of code and I was getting the same error for that line) and after updating the module, I'm still getting the same error on both lines (depending on whether I attempt to access the module via the main menu or a block).

Am I missing a step?

Thanks again,

Kristine

(I'm also getting the following PHP error within the module admin page:

Warning [PHP]: Division by zero in file modules/xhelp/admin/index.php line 697
Warning [PHP]: Division by zero in file modules/xhelp/admin/index.php line 697)

xHelp: Fatal error: Call to a member function

Loving Xhelp... I think it's the best thing since sliced bread.

However, I'm getting the following error when attempting to access the module:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/website/public_html/modules/xhelp/index.php on line 119

(I did search but couldn't find any mention of this error with this module.)

Thanks in advance,

Kristine

Thanks very much... that's exactly what I needed to know.

newbb2 RC 2 : Permissions - webmasters group

I don't know if I'm setting this up correctly and can't seem to find an answer when I search...

I've created a category and forums for 1 group and I don't want anyone except for that particular group to see the category, forums, individual posts, etc.

When I log in as a webmaster, I can see the categories and topics, but don't have permission to view the posts. When I log in as a regular user, I can't see that category or forums at all. Is it possible for me to make it so the webmaster group can't see that category/forums as well?

I have my category global access set only to that group and I've checked to make sure the individual forums underneath that category are accessible only by that group as well.

Am I missing a step here?

Thanks in advance,

Kristine
