AMS questions - used for recipes

Hi,

i am considering using AMS but there are some things I'm not sure it can do, or weather it's planned for a future release (an "estimated" time frame would be thanked, if possible).

+ I want to use this as a recipes collection, not actual articles. I would love to have two fields available. i want to make it so that in submit.php users can have a field where they would list the ingredients, and the on the other field the preparation instructions. ideally I would like to describe the ingredients text behind the recipe name (w/o line breaks) and the same text (w/ line breaks) plus preparation isntructions on the 'article' page, but I can live without that...

if this is not possible and wont be available soon, is it possible to use the 'banner sponsor' field and use that in teh article page for 'preparation'. of course I looose that field, but I dont think I'll need it for now.

+ is it possible to install two ams, or even change its name, so that the url reads 'modules/recipes' instead of AMS (and the other one for real articles)? I saw post on how to do this, not sure if in this forum, but the main question would be someone has done it? I am a php newbee but I can follow instructions.

Thats all I think. Main reason for considering AMS over wfsections (which is the other module that looks like it fit my needs) is that AMS can use XOOPS notifications, which I intend to use as a way of "internally bookmarking" recipes, plus some number of articles considerations I read (and almost undestood ). since this is recipes and not articles the number is likely to grow quite a bit, or so I expect. Any experience doing something similar, or other advice is welcome.

Thanks

Hi,

Some time ago I installed one of those programs that install PHP, mySQL (and other things like perl too) based on the feedback of this forum. However since its been a while I guess all those programs have newer versions. I also remember some things didnt work in my local instalation as they did on the host (local being win2000, server unix).

Any package that does that, that is install everything automatically and easy, is recommended by xoops? any good program users find works well w/xoops?

Also, is it easy to unistall everything to install newer versions? or can one install over old apache?

Thanks for any info

Hi,

Happy cristhmas everybody

Now...I was wondering if there is a way of changing the behaviour of the 'send to a friend' feature you see on news and otehr modules. Righ now it opens your mail program with a mailto, but I would like users to fill an small form, and the mail sent from XOOPS (with their data, even adding a that images they make you convert to text to verify its not a machine for increased security).

I searched for this and nothing...is this possible? if not, is there an easy way of hacking this is? (I am no programmer but I can manage to do some things with instructions/hints). is there a plan to add this in the future?

thanks

Hi,

I am a bit confused about the requirements to run this hack on a virtual server. This will be a new XOOPS site and I'm looking at two (cheap) possible hosts for it (surpass and godaddy, BTW if anyone knows any feedback on them it will be welcome ). I sent them the following mail asking them:

+ Is PHP on your virtual servers compiled with the
+ RewriteEngine module?
+ Also, is session.trans_sid set to off in PHP?
+ Can we (virtual hosting users) use mod_rewrite?
+ At last, is PHP compiled as an Apache module?

Surpass replied:
We do compile php with mod_rewrite. session.trans_sid is set to on. You can use mod_rewrite at your discretion. Also, we do compile php with apache.

GoDaddy replied:
Our PHP servers are not compiled using the rewrite engine module. The session.trans_sid is set to off in PHP. The virtual hosting does not allow for the mod_rewrite feature. The PHP is compiled using an Apache module.

Can anyone confirm I can use this hack with any of these hosts? I would really like to use it and since I am getting a new host for this, I would like to make sure its 'shorturls compatible'

Thanks a lot!

Thanks skalpa, but that didnt work on my tests.

I tried setting it like this too (on theme.html), to make sure I didnt make a mistake anywhere else:

<{if $smarty.server.PHP_SELF=='/index.php'}>
show this text on the home only
<{/if}>

and it doesnt work (it doesnt show anything on any page)

Thanks
