We need a link for n00b's to this one, right at top of xoops.org, with falshing lights...this is far more important info, then anything about blanc pages, etc.......

Hmmmm, how about a new project: XOOPS Comics?

(If someone could provide me with an image of XOOPY {googled and couldn't find anything besides a small/crappy under construction}, I would like to adapt the comic for xoops, using XOOPY; once I have an image I can start, and contact the original artists; we could have it posted on the documentation site...)

Nice and brief WarDick!

May I add...wiki's have a special and easy way of creating links, which blogs lack. Though, having written this, many systems have started to "copy" this "feature" of wiki's.

The keyword is CamelCase, used to create links on the fly, without having to specify the actuall link (just indicating the page, using its name).

With software it is kind of like....hmmm, let's take my favorite example: the hammer

Basicly the hammer can be employed in a variety of situations, which can actually not be clearly defined, as their usage capacity exceeds the imagination.

Now we do have special names for hammers, which are suppose to be used in special circumstances. For example we have a mallet, sometimes also refered to as "soft face hammer".

We're am I going with this? Your hammer in software is a CMS. Your blog/wiki is a mallet, ball-pain, etc...

A blog is an online dictionary.
A wiki is an online notebook.

Hope you find WarDicks and my explanations to have sheed some light, into the thicket of IT marketing terminology.

May I suggest to go over to sourceforge and take a look through the posting in the SF XOOPS Project Forum...

Hope this at least will give you an indication, but from personal experience: many questions will still be unanswered, as it seems, that many devs are communicating via PM/email, instead of communicating their ideas in open forums *sigh.

Quick fix (sorry, but haven't got the time to look into this!):

- add to table a class (e.g. class="NewsTable")
- open your themes style sheet and add the following rule:

table.NewsTable {margin-top: -20px;}

...which should move table up to where you want it.

I recommend the extra class, as any changes to the general tables styles in your themes style sheets, may have unwanted effects!

Hope this helps...

Why create a module for this? You could use the section/article/WF-Channels/edito/etc... module for this kind of task.

Never the less:

- Kick Start Guide for module development

- Developers Wiki

...as I like to see people willing to learn

sys admin -> preferences -> general settings

9'th option
update template html files: yes

If this isn't set to yes, any changes you make will not appear!

Hope this helps...

If you don't know any HTML, this could be a problem....

What you need to do is integrate those files, with your theme files.

I'm guessing: you have set sections as homepage?

Here's another idea:
- go to sys admin -> blocks
- click on edit to the left of the block you are trying to display
- set to appear on "Top Page"

If sections is not set as to appear on your homepage (sys admin -> preferences -> general settings), this should work.

Hope this helps....

Are there any variables which describe these different areas ?

NO! At least not the way you thought of. It is a little more complex, than just linking HTML pages!

If you want to have an admin area for anything, take a look at how modules do this (tip: look out for INCLUDE statements).

What is this for? Maybe someone will be able to give you more instructive comment...
