hey marco,

thankyou for replying

i didn't have a cache set for wf-downloads but i just set it at 30min. do you think that's an appropriate setting?

also, i'll try switching to cbb. i hope it uses less queries and will help with the problem.

anybody have any other suggestions?

Thanks,

I've been using XOOPS for about 6 months without any problems but i received this message from my webhost today...

Quote:
Your account is using excessive server resources which is negatively effecting the performance of the server.
You have 24 hours to reduce your server resource usage to acceptable levels or your account will be automatically suspended.

The maximum CPU resource limit is: 5% Daily Average
The maximum Memory resource limit is: 5% Daily Average

You are using 4.77% CPU Daily Average
You are using 5.30% Memory Daily Average

The top 3 processes you are running are
55.0% CPU - httpd [www.mantooth.ho8.com] [/main/modules/newbb/viewforum.php?forum3]
25.5% CPU - httpd [www.mantooth.ho8.com] [/main/modules/wfdownloads/newlist.php]
19.0% CPU - httpd [www.mantooth.ho8.com] [/main/modules/newbb/index.php]

Note:
Top 3 processes are based on average CPU usage during the time the processes are running.
The top 3 processes may not neccessarily be the cause of excessive use.
High memory use is often caused by excessive MySQL queries or large PHP scripts.

The Host Ultra Terms of Service states you may not use excessive server resources.
This email serves as notification that your account is in violation of our terms and will be suspended if the problem is not solved.

It is upto you to fix or disable the pages causing the excessive use.
We are only able to monitor how much resources your account is using, we dont know what specifically is causing it.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks,

linked Avatars save bandwidth

Is it possible to require users to enter the url of a picture to use as their avatar instead of uploading it?

I have a site with 7000+ members and it seems like allowing that many people to upload pictures to my server wastes both bandwidth and disk space...especially since they like to change their avatars periodically.

I've seen this option on many forums like phpbb and vbulletin and was curious if it would be difficult to add this feature to Xoops.

Post Count problems in NewBB

I have a few problems with post counts in my NewBB 2.0 module.

One is that whenever Me or a Mod deletes a post, my post count goes down every time. And it doesn't happen to any other accounts... just mine. Am I the only one that's had this problem and is it fixed in 2.02?

Another problem is that i have a "spam section" and an "introduce yourself" section. Is there a way to make it so post counts don't go up in these sections? I know you can do this with phpbb and i think you can also do it with vbulletin and IPB.

Any help is most appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

I don't know anything about php and was wondering if someone could help me with this problem.

I would like members of my site to have a certain post count to be able to access my wf-downloads module. And if they don't have enough posts, they are redirected to a page that says "sorry, you need 10 posts to access this area".

Is there a relatively easy way to accomplish this perhaps by adding some code to the wf-downloads index page?
