Since the block list can get really long I suggest a collapsible method with the option to 'collapse all' just as the 'nested' system.

Related blocks would be grouped ie: All system blocks, all forum blocks, all custom blocks etc.

It is a problem many times when a new block is added and if it is to be publicly viewed one has to remember to modify the Annonymous group and any additional groups so they can see it.

Also a problem with assigning block publishing rights to members of your association. When they create blocks they can't assign it because they can't be given Group admin rights since it allows them to change their own global permission.

There should be group permission checks at the Add New Block form (as in the NewwBB2 when adding a Forum) and it should detect and display any new groups added.

just a query on this issue.

Has it been determined why modules don't display without the Frameworks folder? My server uses PHP 4x and when I installed 2.0.14 only the system module was visible and all others including;
NewBB2
News1.44
Pical.07
debaser
xoopsfaq
xoopspoll
xoopspartners
xoopsheadlinemylinks
sections
catads

Not even custom modules using just the xoops_version.php would show.

So.. what is the cause. Does it have to do with PHP versions?

Why is the Frameworks folder not included in the XOOPS 2.0.14 folder since it is required?

General Settings question - 'Check templates for modifications'

I checked 'Yes' for 'Check templates for modifications' in general settings and the site seems to be working fine. I would prefer that mode as I am currently making theme adjustments regularly, while the site is productive.

Will a problem develop if left in this mode? Is there an advantage when 'No' is checked?

Thanks

Stefan thanks for that help. It worked well. I didn't understand the smarty stuff so I used the bigger code.

NeoFenix I am not sure if you are asking or stating a fact but I am using 2.14

I created a theme and placed the usermenu horizontally above the body. It works fine except for the Inbox message display. It is not retrieving the info from the database to show that there are messages waiting. This is what I have;
<!---- USER MENU --->
                <
b>User Menu:</b>
    <{if
$xoops_isadmin}>
        <
a class="greeting" href="<{$xoops_url}>/admin.php"><b>Admin</b></a> |
        <
a class="greeting" href="<{$xoops_url}>/user.php">View Account</a> |
      <{else}>
        <
a class="greeting" href="<{$xoops_url}>/user.php">View Account</a> |
      <{/if}>
    <
a class="greeting" href="<{$xoops_url}>/edituser.php">Edit Account</a> |
    <
a class="greeting" href="<{$xoops_url}>/notifications.php">Notifications</a> |
    <{if
$block.new_messages > 0}>
        <
a class="highlight" href="<{$xoops_url}>/viewpmsg.php"><{$block.lang_inbox}> (<span style="color:#ff0000; font-weight: bold;"><{$block.new_messages}></span>)</a> |
      <{else}>
        <
a class="greeting" href="<{$xoops_url}>/viewpmsg.php">Inbox</a> |
      <{/if}>
    <
a class="greeting" href="<{$xoops_url}>/user.php?op=logout">Logout</a>
    <!---
END USER MENU --->
I also had to replace all the 'block.lang' tags because they wouldn't display.

Can anyone give me some guidance on this? Why won't the original tags call the corresponding text and why won't the messages display? I am guessing it has something to do with paths.

Thanks

Thanks for that guidance but I think you misunderstand my problem.

This group that I created called 'Editors' are supposed to add and remove custom page content using the 'Add new block' tool. Since this tool has no way of assigning the newly created content to particular groups, it has to be done via the 'Group' modification. If I as 'Webmaster' have to do the group assignment of the many new custom blocks created then it will defeat the purpose of having these people.

Are you saying that this has to be a trust system? There is no way to allow 'group' access to these guys yet block them from modifying the 'Webmaster' group? Surely that must be possible.

The real solution would be that when adding a custom block there should be check boxes displaying the group list then it could be assigned at that moment (like Newbb2)

So is it possible to give a moderater group permission yet block him from changing his own system admin permission?

I created a group called Editors and assigned some system admin rights including Blocks so they can add and edit blocks as neccessary

The problem is new blocks need to be assigned to various groups and since there is no means of assigning when creating the block, it must be done using the groups modification panel. At that point the moderator can also modify the group he belongs and add all the other system admin rights. Can this be blocked?

Thanks. It was the tags that were the problem.
