Not using Apache. Using IIS6. Can xsas still work on IIS? I thought it was Apache only.

SQL is running (mysql-nt.exe) as a service so that's OK.

I didn't create a database which I know sounds stupid, but it says on the XOOPS installation page under 'Database name' that 'Xoops will try to create the database if it doesn't exist'. Because I wasn't sure whether the database has to be in c:\mysql\ or in D:\fct.local\database (for example) I thought I'd give that a try. Clearly it didn't like that.

Do you know where I should try to create it? C:\ or D:\. If D:\, when I use the command CREATE DATABASE fct how do I tell it to create it in d:\cms.fct rather than c:\mysql?

I didn't want to use that version - it was an old copy on my pen drive. Totally forgot to check the latest version. Got the new version and the installation worked a treat, except when I got to the database creation. It said it can't connect to the SQL database. I think this is because I've not configured it correctly on the server. I installed MySQL on the c:\ drive, and the web root is on the D:\ data store. I think its looking for the database in the same location?

I'll look into it, but if someone know the answer to this then please let me know. I'm looking at using phpMyAdmin

I think you've cracked it! The version I used was from a while ago - and yes, it was 1.3.10!! That, and the fact that there are a couple of the folders you mentioned missing - may have something to do with it!! I'll get the latest version immediately and try again.

I'm a div - thanks

I have just set-up IIS6 on our network with the intention of using XOOPS as an internal CMS (an Intranet). I've set-up the domain on IIS, plugged PHP into it, and installed MySQL.

Trouble is, when I uploaded the html folders content to the root folder as instructed, and then typehttp://fct.local I get a couple of erros stating that

"Warning:main(/path/to/xoops/directory/include/common.php):failed to open stream. No such file or directory in D:\cms.fct/mainfile.php on line 60"

then on the next line

...all of the above but ends with "(include_path='.;c:\php4\pear') in D:\cms.fct/mainfile.php on line 60

(D:\cms.fct is simply the name of the web folder.)

If I tryhttp://fct.local/install.php it reports back saying simply 'No input file specified'.

Can anyone help me with horribly newbie question displaying my failure at the first herdle!

I'll perhaps try that then and see how I get on. I have a book on PHP and MySQL, but I aint too bright!!

Perhaps I can ask people for help once I start? Cheers

Thanks very much for your reply Mirth. Thanks for considering helping me - I know you'd be very busy with XOOPS generally to have the time to write me a module.

Ok, so are there any pointers you could give me so that I can learn how to do it? You say it won't be that hard? Is that from the point of view of an experienced core developer, or is it generally not that hard?

Is there anyone else who would have the time to help - I don't rekon I'd manage it on my own?

I'm sure I'll look daft for asking this because it's probably already been suggested, but what I need is the following:

I am setting up a site for dog owners to report lost or found dogs. What I want for them is a form for which they can input their own details, and then that of the dogs. At the end of it, I'd like them to be able to upload a picture of their dog from their PC and then press submit. I then want all the data, inluding the graphics file, and the allocation of a unique ID number to be stored in the database.

Its a call order I know. Is it possible? Can something like that be done with Xoops? Its a free service so I won't be able to pay for the development, unless it just a few dollars\pounds.

If anyone can help I'd owe them an eternity of grattitude, and will be sure to have their name splashed accross the site in recognition of their efforts. Any volunteers?

That's great guys - thanks very much. That seems easy enough, although I'll have to wait until I get home to try it out so expect another posting later!

It seems then that basically, if I load the theme.html file into Dreamweaver, and then do whatever I want to it, then upload it along with any other graphics and things, I'll get the look I want?

If that's the case, then hoorah, and thanks so much for your help.

Can anyone tell me how on earth one actually configures their new XOOPS web site the way they want it using Dreamweaver or some other web page editor?

I gather from reading through the site that the 'mainfile.php' is the key stored in the particular theme in use. However, when I opended it up in Dreamweaver it was all 'dodgy' Hard to explain, but not what I'm used to. I tried to get it to use a different logo file for example, which it did, but when I saved it and uplodaded it (along with the new logo) it didn't display it on the site.

Can anyone answer these questions? I'm really struggling to undertsnad how this concept works? I looked athttp://www.iis-resources.com/modules/news/ for example which is another XOOPS site and its amazing! How on earth did the web master change his site to look like that?

Any help much appreciated for a total stupid newb
