More ideas:

Admin section would allow you to change the upload folder size. Basically, the structure could work like xCGal does. Each user gets their own folder created. This will help a lot, especially when people upload a filename with the same name. No overwriting and no renaming because someone else uploads the same filename.

It would also allow the admin to make size limitations by group, just like xCGal does. For instance, groups who are just regular artists could be set at only 15 megs of space. Groups who were Premium Artists, could be set at 30 megs, or something to that effect. Also, making the option of "Approval Before Posting" is a vital feature. This will definetly help cut down when it comes to users who upload copyrighten stuff (provided you recognize the material, that is).

File size limitations would also be good.

Prepare for lots of ideas to be flowing from me over the course of this module design lol. I've wanted something like this for about a year now, but never actually asked about it.

lavaburst...that is EXACTLY what I'm looking for! I'll make up a fake page maybe tomorrow so I might be able to get a visual idea of what all it could show. An artist guest book would be great too, but I guess the Comments section would work equally as good for that, as long as it was for each artist.

Also, Artist Off-Site Links, age, and genre would be good to include.

This would be based on groups though. Like, just joining won't automatically entitle you to it unless of course the setting for creating these pages was for Registered Users. Like, I could make a group called "Artists", and when I add someone to that group, they are given the ability to make one of those pages. Others would be able to view the pages like normal, but only "Artists" would be able to do create.

And name ideas...hmm...here are some random ones:

Audiophile (or file)
BandManager
MusicHost

Yeah, it is complex to some degree, but the general idea is there.

And if I knew php, I'd be on the project quick...but alas, I don't.

Ok, so Metin and I have been messaging each other back and forth about some type of module to allow artists to upload music, have their own pages....basically like making MP3.com out of xoops. I thought about the Jamroom software athttp://www.jamroom.net orhttp://www.talldude.com (whichever works first), and figured that it would be the best bet for something like that. However, it's no longer as cheap as it used to be, and a module version to build into XOOPS would be much better anyway.

So basically the request is to have some kind of module made so sites can give artists their own mp3.com-like page, granting them the ability to upload music, an image or images, maybe have their own guestbook.... If there is a more simple way to do this without having to have a module made, I'm all ears.

yeah, i'm thinking it's nuke too

however, i wonder why they use ezboard instead of a message board for nuke, if it is a nuke system...

i think i understood what you were getting at, and it's exactly what i'm looking for as well. i've been trying to figure out a way to do it with current modules for the past few months and still haven't figured out a good way yet. i wonder if there is a module for it.

basically you want to create mp3.com or soundclick.com...that's what i'm looking to do atleast

I get this same message if I try to visit a module under http: //sidebreak.com/whatevermodule rather than http: //www.sidebreak.com/thatsamemodule

Tis kind of annoying. I have to pick either with the www or with out it when setting up the site.

I think I'll wait on the module. If it's as good as you guys are saying it is, than waiting should be no problem.
