Thanks for the reply and sorry I am fairly new here.

PHP version 4.4.1
SQL 4.1.13
XOOPS Version 2.0.13.2

(right clicked -- shortcut)

I have uploaded to a server for testing this

The link works If I am not logged in

I get the same address if im am logged in or not however lol (always one of those) if I log in and try I get the blank page.

I have another addition after uploading to the server now I cannot change the chmod to 444 on mainfile.php. I change it and apply then recheck it goes back to where it was.
Part of the prob? Thansk for all of everyones help.

WARNING: File /home/hawkmanr/public_html/testfolder/mainfile.php is writeable by the server.
Please change the permission of this file for security reasons.
in Unix (444), in Win32 (read-only)

When I log in and search members---- click name to view them, it shows a blank white page. I checked the member number in phpadmin it appears correct. Heres the addy it sends to the address bar

http://localhost/xoops/userinfo.php?uid=2

this member is assigned id#2

any help is appreciated as the profiles will be a big part of my site.

if I type that address directly into the adress bar I go to the profile ?????? when clicking the name link i do not ??? Ok Im confused now lol permission problem?

XOOPS is simply put amazeing thanks for all your help-- got me really rolling lol. One final question before I jump in fully :0)

May I do all my work locally then upload it to my server having all changes intact?

How?

Or must I do all work on server?

thread or help on this?

errrrr? no----- I mean, ummmm(lol) yes thats the route I took to change the email I needed to. Thanks for all the help. This seems like an awsome profram once I fugre it out lol.

QUESTION 2-------

I cant seem to add any blocks to the index (b4 login) The registered users is fine.I can move everything lol how nice that is.

I went to the following:

system admim>
blocks>
changed "group" to anon users>
scrool down to "add a new block">(enter my info etc)
display in "top page">
submit>

It appears on the members index after loggin in.
How can I edit the index to suit my needs? dreamweaver?

Thanks greatly -- the memberside of it i totally understand but I just cant seem to manipulate the unlogged in index.

Thanks I left it alone for awhile and came back, suddenly it was clear lol.

before however i was getting there it wasnt editable.

How can I change the from mail after the intital setup?

EX when i use the contact us it fills in an email already. I used one I had just to install it and now i cant figure out how to change it to what I really need. thanks any help is appreciated

I alos just downloaded and installed this today looks very promising-----------

From what I can tell already you may do what you ask by going here

Log in (as admin)>
hoover system admin icon >
choose preferences >
user info settings (click edit)>
(on mine) 8 spots down the list is :
{Select activation type of newly registered users}change here.
