rossi, you're right we got a problem with weather modules for XOOPS for Bulgaria. i've used the ms_weather at some time in august on the site i'm administrating and when i've looked carefully in the yahoo weather copyrights i found that kind of problem. but thought in that way at that moment that's no right i think now - there's a copyright license on the weather information by yahoo and the module author brokes that rules by using it, but on the other side he distributes his module under GPL as i can remember, so the user himself has no guilt here. It's better find another solution now.
found the xp-weather module but it gives information for only 4 weather stations in BG and doesn't work for sofia which is a problem. so hope there'll be another decision.
Greetings!

Hey, Dean, is the weather cache working ok at yours? Cause I was using the same module and it used to slow down seriously my site load so i concluded it was the cache problem.
And another thing - you've opened it with Firefox? The weather colors that come from the Yahoo Weather page get lost and i've looked the code of the module, tested much but didn't find the problem, while Firefox presents well the original Yahoo Weather page that the module parses and presents itself.

Yahoo Weather seams to be working ok. But if it's working fine on your local pc but not on your real site then the problem seems to be really a local one. Look carefully how you've given your directories names in your class.msweather.php file, the problem could be there. I'm using XOOPS_URL constant as a start directory identifier and it's working.

Quote:
so do you have any pointers as to how to turn on debugging?

You turn on debugging from the XOOPS administration menu -> Settings -> General Settings and when you scroll down there you'll see sth like 'Show in debug mode' (not sure if it was the original text) and a drop down menu and you can choose options between 'PHP debug' / 'MySQL/blocks debug' / 'Smarty Templates Debug' and 'none'. Try them and see what result messages it will give you.

I'm also using it but these days it's currently off, giving temporary it's position to sth else, so I'm not able to say nothing. But what the module is doing itself is getting yahoo weather page and parsing what's in the code as it's information to be viewable, so it's possible Yahoo Weather to have changed the way they present their info so the parsing to be no longer working. And this change could be not global but local, so you to have this problem now. When I'll get back to work on wednesday I'm gonna check and report here if there's really a problem with it.
