The problem deepens...
I've now realised that since switching to a new (dedicated) server, no emails can be sent from the site.
So the email function on modules such as mxdirectory (and others) isn't working (as well as the user registration emails). If users have notification method set as 'by email' then nothing is getting through. Its a big worry!
I've tried changing my mail settings in Admin but that hasn't solved it. I've checked with my server company who say its not their issue.
Has anyone got any idea what might be going on, what the fix could be? (I'm getting desperate)

Hi

My new sever does not come with an email account so my email account is still run from the old, shared server. So although my email shares the same domain name as the website it comes from a different IP address.

My site performance can be too slow so I'd like to enable gzip compression but when I do my site display goes crazy - it can no longer read the xlanguage module and both languages, plus language tags [en][/en] are displayed.
Is there any solution to this? Or is 'no gzip' a price you have to pay for using (the great module) xlanguage?

I've cleared cache and templates_c but still have the problem
Neither new or old server allowed .htaccess so I don't think it can be that.
BTW I edited my first post so you might have missed the following
if I type in mysite/index.php I get the header and the footer displayed but nothing else
Does this shine any light on it?

URGENT advice needed. I've just switched servers and now the site won't display.
When I go to my homepage I get a 403 Forbidden Page
But if I type in mysite/index.php I get the header and the footer displayed but nothing else
If I type in a page address (such as www.mysite/modules/newbb) I get the XOOPS You don't have the right to access this redirect.
1.I've transferred all the files, keeping structure intact.
2. I've copied all the database tables without problem
3. I changed the mainfile.php to have the new server name and password (and made it chmod 444).
BTW - the cache folder is the one that may not have downloaded all its files when I was transferring - it was huge and took forever. All the other folders I'm pretty sure transferred well - could this be a problem or is cache irrelevant?

the problem is the tags displayed on my smartsection module have dud links they go to
modules/smartsection/view.tag.php?*****
But this is just an empty page. What should I do?
Do I need to change the code to make the link:

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but is there any way I can still use this seo hack if my server host does not allow rewite? If not, is there any solution (to use this hack and also the smartsection seo option) or is the only way to change server host?

So I've got tag 1.6 and smartsection installed. At the end of all smartsection articles any tags are shown as links but if a user clicks on any of these they get a blank page
Its because (I think) the link is:
/smartsection/view.tag.php/the-tag-word-here
Should I change it to: /tag/view.tag.php/the-tag-word-here
If this is the answer, any idea where I make this change?
I'm not totally clued-up on tag clouds so sorry if I'm being clueless here.
One more thing, the tag cloud displays all tags in the same font & size - shouldn't it change randomly? - how can I make this happen?
