Also I got the search to work with whereis.com.au for the Australian addreses (this is a mod specifically I ported for Australian use).

If anyone needs help, give us a yell...
Hmmm... Why do I have so many screws left over?

Actually I got it...after an hour or so...
I edited the search file under the module directory .... xyp4all/includes/search.inc.php

Changed line 35:
$sql = "SELECT l.lid,l.cid,l.title,l.submitter,l.zip,l.date,c.title AS cattitle,t.description FROM ".$xoopsDB->prefix("xyp_links")." l LEFT JOIN ".$xoopsDB->prefix("xyp_cat")." c ON c.cid=l.cid LEFT JOIN ".$xoopsDB->prefix("xyp_text")." t ON t.lid=l.lid WHERE status>0";

Changed line 42-45:
$sql .= " AND ((l.title LIKE '%$queryarray[0]%' OR c.title LIKE '%$queryarray[0]%' OR l.zip LIKE '%$queryarray[0]%' OR t.description LIKE '%$queryarray[0]%')";
for($i=1;$i<$count;$i++){
$sql .= " $andor ";
$sql .= "(l.title LIKE '%$queryarray[$i]%' OR c.title LIKE '%$queryarray[$i]%' OR l.zip LIKE '%$queryarray[$i]%' OR t.description LIKE '%$queryarray[$i]%')";

note the added "l.zip" queries.

Please note:
I do not think of myself as a php or MySql Guru so I just fluked it (or better still just used logic from the above mentioned patch). I just needed a postcode/zipcode search, and if anyone else needs help I am sure I can for a small fee
Hmmm... Why do I have so many screws left over?

I think this is somewhat related...

How do you get it to do a postcode search, I have tried to get xyp4all and xdirectory but both do not seem to be able to do zip/postcodes searches.

I am getting frustrated as these programmes are fantastic.

any help greatly appreciated.

Many thanks... I actually stumbled on a "think outside the square" idea...

I installed the tutorial module... renamed it etc... created a menu item through imenu module so it calls the "tutorial" (aka static content) with option to add the content as another web page (if you set it as to open oin iframe) with option to view that page in a new window and etc etc... I had to edit one file so that customers could not go to my menu of "tutorials"

I will post a link here later once site is up.

Regards
Brian

Ah what the hell... have a look if you want already

Look mainly at the about and a couple of other menus I have hard wired that is what points to the content so it can be easily edited as a "TUTORIAL"
And yes the site is not yet completed.... no suggestions please as the person who requested the site has enough suggestions to keep me busy for the next decade

Oh and Chris, if you read this.. .HI!

ok, here is something a little more left field....

I want to do a custom block, but only have it appear in the centre when a link is clicked (ie I have a custom menu bar up the top) so I want to know how to call the module to display.

Any ideas? as I don't want to display all info like about us etc on the main page until the user selects to view it and then that is the only thing they see.

Any help appreciated....

Yeh, just noticed while looking for another setting... i feel like a walking male appendage.

Sorry for the silly question, it was a matter of too much caffeine and not enough sleep.... :(

PS,
I was just logging in to edit and remove my post when I saw the reply and that is when i felt like the above mentioned item....

Hi all,

Just a quick note on the XOOPS search, at present it has a character limit of 5, which is not too much good for me if I am searching for 4 digit Australian post codes.

Anyone know how to change the limit from 5 to 4? or is it some hard coded thing?

hmmm.. this looks like it is one of those questions no one looks at, have you tried the Dev site? This type of question may be answered there already as I am assuming you are using for module modification?

Well I cant say I have had the same problem, however most issues like this are usually simple (and considering how old the message is, possibly fixed). Usually you can try a fresh install of XOOPS (of the latest stable release) failing that we need to know exactly what versions of PHP and MySQL you are using etc, etc...
