I think you may be talking about the [extend]tag. When typing a news article in AMS, anything before the [extend] tag is considered the "preview". Readers can then see what's after the [extend] tag by clicking on "read more."

Not sure about 2.2.3, but on 2.0.13, you need to go into the modules you would like to receive notifications on, select the event/notification, and verify that your profile settings are set appropriately (i.e. - pm notification, or email).

For example, if you go into the news module and select an article, down at the bottom of the page there are several options - notify when any new article is submitted, notify when a new article in that category is submitted, etc.

Most modules work this way with notifications. Just look for the notifications option at the bottom of the page while looking at content for that module.

You can then manage notification preferences from the notifications option in the user menu (i.e. - delete notifications, etc. if you get too many emails, or whatever).

Don't forget to also check to make sure that you've enabled notifications (if available) for the modules in question on the admin side.

There are several download modules available, including wf-downloads and pd-downloads, which would allow you to offer your PDF files for download.

The latest version of WF-Downloads can be found here.

I believe the latest version of PD-Downloads can be found here.

There are several other download modules available if you search in the module repository, but these 2 tend to be quite popular.

I'm not sure if it will do everything that you're looking for, but you may want to check out SmartMedia over at the SmartFactory website.

Hi Rider -

You can keep people from registering accounts by logging into the admin section of your website, select system admin, preferences, user info settings...there is an option labeled "Allow new user registration?". Just select "No" and you're good to go.

Not sure about News / Article, but I use AMS and it is possible to add images to news items to get the same look/feel of the sites that you have referenced without the use of any sort of hacks.

Be sure to check GIJoe's site where you can grab the most current version of piCal.

You can grab it here -

GIJoe's website

The info below was taken from GIJoe's website -

Since piCal >= 0.70 is implemented with DUPLICATABLE V2, you can duplicate this module easily.
And you are free to change the dirname of this module.

modules/cal - treated as the base module of piCal
modules/cal0 - treated as No.0 moudle of piCal
modules/c1 - treated as No.1 module of piCal
modules/test0002 - treated as No.2 module of piCal

The numbers of piCal have to be unique.

If you're on XOOPS 2.0.x, select -
- System Admin
- Preferences
- User Info Settings

Select 'No' under the option "Notify by mail when a new user is registered?".

If you're on XOOPS 2.2.x and you have Extended Profiles installed, select -

- Preferences
- Extended Profiles
- General Settings

Select 'No' for the same option described above.

If you're not using Extended Profiles in 2.2.x, the option may be located under a different submenu...not sure where though.

If you don't want to edit templates, you may want to check out MultiMenu. This module allows you to create custom menus, including horizontal ones.
