FIXED!!!

Thank you JDSEYMOUR!!!

1. I backed up the DB onto my HD using the b/u module.

2. Saved the site's file structure onto my HD via ftp.

3. Uninstalled XOOPS completely.

4. Recreated the root folder.

5. Reinstalled xoops

6. U/L all of the modules, overwriting the default modules that comes with install.

7. Via phpmyadmin, I dropped all of the tables in the DB in mysql.

8. U/L the B/U DB via phpmyadmin

9. Works like nothing had ever happend!

Did you happen to update your forums since the backup?
If you did upload the current version to the server.

Check your database in PHPmyadmin and see if all looks OK.

In the database go to the bottom of the main list, select all tables, and choose repair from the dropdown menu.

Damn, I uploaded an old forum an now the forum is wrecked.

I did a chek and a repair of the database, and all seems fine.

I admit though, I do not understand very much about phpmyadmin and DB's in general.

This is insane and I have not slept yet.

This is such a disaster. I am inclined to believe that the solution is to install another XOOPS in another folder, and then upload an old database to that new installation along with the other modules?

Is this worth it and doable?

Is there someone I can hire to fix this, who will?
-------------------------------------
The situation is as follows right now:

1. The button System apears in main menu, but links to every current page, and therefore is uselss.

2. All modules appear in admin panel, but system and backup buttons do not work. The create browser error pages.

3. I have no access to any system functions, but the drop down menu works. The buttons in the drop down do not though.

4. I cannot get to the groups control, nor to any system function.

5. The site overall, www.jewishmayhem.com/magazine seems to work just fine.

6. The NewBB forums are crapped out.

7. For some reason, the theme is showing old links to things, like another forum I once had linked up.
---------------------------------------
So in short, I need to do something here because without system involved, Im up shit$ creek.

Thank you very very much for all any any help!

Linux server.

Dude. If you don't know, then I know even less.

I am winging things here big time.

This is bizarre, b/c I iploaded an older sitewide backup, and now the newbb forums work, sorta. They do not connect though.

ERROR: Could not connect to the forums database.
If the page does not automatically reload, please click here

This is crazy!!!

System module, and backup still dont work, but the cafepress one now does!

Is there a simple solution to all of this?

Like uninstalling XOOPS via control pael and reinstalling it with the backup databases and modules?

Darn. I uploaded the old backup.

So, in the end, istead of getting an error 500, now i rcvd this for the system module:

http://jewishmayhem.com/magazine/modules/articles/admin/articles.php 65.92.173.166 /magazine/modules/system/admin.php jewishmayhem.com Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 500

and this for the cafepress module

http://jewishmayhem.com/magazine/modules/cafepress/admin/index.php 65.92.173.166 /magazine/modules/system/admin.php?fct=preferences&op=showmod&mod=12 jewishmayhem.com Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 500

Does this help?

Hi.

Wel Ive done a step by step and it seems that I did everything correctly.

modules/system/admin.php?fct=groups does not work.. It did at one time way back. But then at that time, the modules all of the modules were ot appearing.

Everything works fine, but the system module and the cafe press modules are crapped out and send me to an error 500.

I have backups made from the module my backup.

Is it possible that I can just install an older backup in the SQl and revert things?

Is it possible the problem is in the db, and not in the other files?

How do i install the zipped backup into the db?

I use cpanel and phphmyadmin.

thank you

Hi.

I really appreciate this JDSeymour. I havn't slept yet because of this issue.

Sorry, I upgraded from 2.0.93 to 2.0.10.

I used that tutorial.

I will read through it once again and step by step things.

I don't think that is the problem though.

The problem started all of a sudden for no cause.

It was only by trying all of these methods that i have been able to get the modules to appear, but still have not been able to get the system or a cafepress module to work yet.

Well I was able to get the site from a situation of no modules appearing, to all of them by removing the cache/admin...php and loggin in for the first time.

Ialso upgraded the files to V2.10

The problem is just with the system module not working.

I've tried uploading new files, etc...nothing cn make it work.

My server admin says nothing was changed.

If that is the case, then it is a system problem with xoops.

There is a over 300 members on the site, so I am afraid of it crashing or simply having to have eeveryone resign up

All of the modules seem to be listed.

Since I have been trying every trick in the book for the last couple of hours and desperately searching for any reference to my problem, I have come short.

It seems no one else had this problem with an existing site, just with new installations.

Whew...I have managed to make the modules reappear in the admin area so far by removing the cache/. I can now access the modules with the serious exception of the system module!

When I press the system module, I get an error 500 page!!

So now the issue is getting the system module to work.

HELP PLEASE

This is a pretty big disaster...
