after backing up my mainfile.php i completely wiped my XOOPS instalation directory and freshly unpacked the default XOOPS tarball into my html directory, deleted the install directory, set all of my permissions properly, double checked everything, put my original mainfile.php back where it belongs (overwriting the one that came with the default install), logged in and it still has the darn looping problem...

I believe that this confirms that it is not a files issue, and is in fact a database issue (or that there is in fact a big bug in the release).

also, this particular install (database, files, etc.) is pretty stock... i haven't even configured any modules on it. just system. and that was just enough to get through the preferences.

anybody have any further information, please post away!

I too am having problems with the "This is your first time to enter the administration section." page looping.

there are no files in the cache directory and the cache directory is set 777. i've tried (under os x) safari, firefox, and camino and (under windows xp) firefox, and internet explorer. it's not a browser or cache related issue, it's something up with either the XOOPS files or the database. judging from the number of replies to this topic, i think we have a bug in this version of xoops.

If somebody can offer some kind of solution, i'm all ears.

I noticed that the scrolling thumbnails in the scrolling thumbnails block are aligned left and i want them aligned center. I've tried editing the block and adding either <div> or <center> tags, tried both, it didn't work. i also tried a 3 collumn table where the original block code was part of the center <td> and it seems that the entire table came before the content (pushing the content right). but i'm looking to center it... what gives and how do i fix it?

i'm not really looking for a "gallery" i need it stripped to the basic first comic, preveous comic, next comic, latest comic buttons. no thumbnails, etc. an archives system could be nice (just a list of all comics linked by when they were posted i guess, maybe titles) plus the comments system (that's easy enough to integrate)

a full galery module is kinda big and clunky for this application.

I've got a friend who is interested in setting up her own web comic but she has no web coding skills, she's looking for a content management system or module that can display comics, go forward and backward between comics, etc. (like penny arcade or ctrl+alt+del online. database integration would probably be a good thing, and each comic post should then use the comment system so people can comment on the comic.

it should be pretty easy to do but neither of us has the experence to implement it. can somebody please head us in the right direction?

hey there... I was just thinking that it's kinda pointless to have two buttons in the main menu that do the same thing... in my case the news module is my home page so i really want to remove the "home" menu from the main menu alltogether. how can i do this?

Hey there,
I'm looking for a XOOPS module that does imap e-mail where accounts are created on the fly when a user registers with the XOOPS page in question, displays an e-mail link in the user menu and works almost identically to the integrated instant messager system only it has world e-mail access. spam assassin could be integrated on the backend imap server to eliminate most spam.

sqmail is pretty good but it doesn't create accounts on the mail server for the user, the admin has to do it ahead of time and that's a hassle for people who have a couple hundred users.

does anybody have any ideas for a free module or mail system that can be easily integrated? (hordemail is good but difficult to integrate and NOT free)

ok, so i got xcgal installed and it's pretty cool, but i don't understand how my users and i can upload pictures from within the galary... i know that users can upload because there is a "users galleries" gallery by default... but i can't figure out how a user or an admin can upload pictures... what gives?
