Hi Mamba,
I use 5.2.17.

I sought help from a friend also and upon checking the phpinfo(), he found that mysql is not included on the page. to resolve this, we did the following:

libmysql.dll from "C:\PHP" (or wherever php is located) to C:\WINDOWS\system32

Thanks!

Hi,
I;m trying to install xoops on a different machine. I used to use xampp but i want to try installing it using apache, php and mysql separate installation.

i have successfully installed everything. I already got to the first page of the xoops installation. But when I got to the configuration part, it says page cannot be displayed. Anyone knows how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks.

Hi,
I just installed xoops on a new machine and according to the administration page, I must move the following files to a different folder:

xoops_lib
xoops_data

However, when i do, and I refresh the admin page, I get the following error:

Warning: require(C:\xampp\htdocs\xoops\xoops_data\data\secure.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\xampp\htdocs\xoops\mainfile.php on line 68

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'C:/xampp/htdocs/xoops/xoops_data/data/secure.php' (include_path='.;C:\xampp\php\PEAR') in C:\xampp\htdocs\xoops\mainfile.php on line 68

I suppose I should not get this error if I installed apache, mysql and php separately? Is it because I'm using xampp?

Thanks ghia. Tried your suggestion and I think I can say I tried everything but it never worked:

1. changing the root directory to c:\xoops....and got the
following error on step 3 of the installation:

This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.

For more information about HTTP errors, see Help.

2. changed back to the original apache root directory, and still the same error on step 3 of installation.

I think the problem is with the file permissions. When you right-click on the folder, the read-only checkbox is selected. I take ownership of the file, changed permissions, and when I check back, the read-only checkbox is selected again. i don't know why vista is doing this to me. =p

although i've read somewhere that vista usually ignores the directory file permissions.

I've tried installing xoops way back in 2004 in windows 98 and it was user-friendly. So I'm pretty sure the problem is vista. I'm just not sure if it's my permissions. I'm stuck stuck stuck. *sigh*

is there anything else you think I can try?

i'm trying to install xoops on windows vista. In the sext page of the installation, there were instructions to change the folders from read only to writable. However, when i right-click and change the folder permission to writable, when I check back permissions, it reverts back to read only.

The files inside that folder is already writable. However, I could not proceed with the installation. I get a web page cannot be displayed issue.

Hope someone here can help me.

From windows to Ubuntu 7.1

Hi Everyone,

I hope you can help me with this. the server on which my site resides has moved from windows to Ubuntu. I have freshly installed the following:

php 5.0
mysql 5.0
apache 2

and I'm using XOOPS Version 2.0.6.

I have installed it successfully. But hwen I try to visit my site for the first time, I get the following message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CLONE, expecting T_STRING in /var/www/html/kernel/object.php on line 528

this is what line 528 of object.php looks like:

function &clone()

Please help me correct this. Should I just install a newer version of XOOPS then? If this will make my life easier, then I'm ok to do this, as long as this will not affect the old modules that I have developed. (How do I uninstall the older version?)

Or if you know of a quicker way to resolve this (a one-time module install/upgrade or something), please feel free to send me your suggestion.

Thank you!
