The case of the vanishing custom HTML blocks?!?!

Hi all

First of all welcome back to Xoops.org, once again the XOOPS team proved that no hacker can bring down this community!

Now onto my question...

I tried upgrading a test copy of my website from XOOPS 2.0.9 to 2.0.10 but on upgrade all of my custom HTML blocks vanished.

I continued the upgrade process to take it to 2.0.13 but the custom blocks are all still gone.

Anyone got any idea why they might have gone and what I could do to fix this?

Thanks

Jonathan

Re: Upgrade from 2.0.9.3 to 2.2.2

davidl2, your sig gives excellent advice

Also, Shine you are absolutely correct. Please accept my apologies for not using the search.

... and I work in IT, perhaps I should practise what I preach.

Many thanks,

Upgrade from 2.0.9.3 to 2.2.2

Hello all

My XOOPS website is currently running 2.0.9.3

What would be the correct upgrade path to the latest version?

Can I install the new upgrade straight over the top or do I need to install each upgrade in sequence, so go to 2.0.10, then 2.2 then 2.2.1, etc.

Has anyone experiened any problems with modules when upgrading, are there any issues to be aware of?

Thankyou for your assistance.

Jonathan

Custom registration form

Hello all

I am going to ask what might seem like an odd question.

I am looking to create my own custom registration form in order to insert additional user data into tables I have created in the XOOPS database. It seemed easier to make my own form on a custom page rather than customise all the existing registration code.

When creating my own form to register a new user I know I need to insert data into xoops_users and xoops_groups_users_link. Do I need to insert data anywhere else?

Thanks everyone.

Re: Moving Xoops to another server

I've just been fiddling around with it a bit more and i've just realised what was causing the problem.

The problem is being caused by the personal firewall running on my PC. I use Kerio Personal Firewall. When the firewall is running I cannot activate, deactivate, install, or uninstall modules. There are possibly other problems I didn't find. When the firewall is deactivated all works normally.

Just curious, anyone know what causes this?

Thanks.

Jonathan

Moving Xoops to another server

Hi all

I am currently in the process of moving my XOOPS powered website from one web host to another. I have made a copy of the database and web pages themselves and installed onto the new server, after modifing mainfile.php all seems to be working well.

I am only having one problem, I cannot install or uninstall a module, whenever I try I get message saying "Could not install <module name>" or "Could not delete <module name>" and cannot write to main menu. I don't use the main menu block as I use a custom one.

I think this is probably a permissions thing but can't see where they are set wrong, I have made templates_c, cache, and uploads full writable (unix permission 777) but still can't change modules.

Anyone know where this might be going wrong and what I need to change? Thanks

Jonathan

Re: Just a little request this time!

Well, I've never posted anything that's sparked off this much of a conversation before...

I would imagine that if you can find out exactly what is inserted into the database when a new user is created then this would be quite easy to do.

Without wanting to sound selfish here, has anyone got the answer to my original question?

Perhaps we could achieve all three of these things together?

Thanks all

Jonathan
